Default perspective please! BA urban legends (?)

i was starting to think about a BA someday ((someday when i have money, but that's another discussion entirely)) and i'm scared about the things we hear. i think alot of it is just scare mongering, but i'm worried! i don't want to end up with serious complications or an ugly result. and i came across this online:

    http://www.paulkienitz.net/no-implants.html

are these things true? is it as bad as it seems? you girls seem to know everything about boobs. tell me, is it really that risky? and how likely is it that i might end up with boobs that look like they came from the barbie gone wrong box?

I've seen that...and yeah, there are 48 reasons not to get a boob job, and from the research I've done, I think a lot of these are true, but he doesn't tell you the whole story. yes, a lot of women got back for redos (althought he majority is to increase size.) Yes, implants defalte (they come with a warranty for this purpose.) yes, implants can get in the way of mammograms (this is for overs, mainly.) Yes, you could end up dead (it's surgery!) There are a lot of crooked or hard ones, but you can lessen the risk by going to an experienced surgeon and massaging the pocket regularly.

So there are 48 reasons he thinks you don't need a BA. But really, I care about my one reason more than some stranger's 48.

Websites like that piss me off. They only look at the small number of negative cases, and not the thousands of good ones. All I have to say to anyone against silicone is men who need to get their testicles removed because of testicular cancer are allowed to get silicone testicle implants and no one is rallying against this.

That's not true. There are groups of men who have had problems with testicular implants too - and people with other types of silicone implants also.
Women with implants just make up a much bigger group and also can be divided into two sizable groups of those who have had cancer and those who haven't.

I looked at that site and then made the appt for my BA... those are very rare complications and some of them were silicone put directly into the boob (no bag)... didnt scare me and i have lovely boobs (small but nice - for now)

I was addicted to the ImplantInfo forum before I got my boobies. LOTS of great information.

As for reason number one, most of these redo's are voluntary. Many women get boobie greed and decide to go for a bigger implant, many times the doctors couldn't put in the larger size implants they wanted because the skin was not stretched enough the first time around. Others get redo's to replace their salines with silicones.

And breast cancer patients, of course, are going to have more complications than average because they are not healthy to begin with. Think about it, a heathly body is naturally going to heal better then an ailing body. People who are already sick are more prone to infections of any kind.

As for silicone seepage, the newer implants these days are made of more solid gel. Some models you can cut the implant in half and the silicone does not ooze.

As for bacteria growth, crooked, uneven, and wierd looking these are all factors which you can reduce by going to the best doctors. Skilled surgeans know to handle the implant as little as possible so it is not exposed to bacteria from their own skin or the patient. A reputable doctor also knows how to properly place an implant for the most pleasing results. Many people get these awfuls ideas about implants after seeing the work of some quack crappy doctors. The skill of your doc makes a huge difference!!

Yes, there are health risks associated with implants but site like this exagerate and pull up the worst case scenarios, not the typical results.

Whoever created that website you posted is obviously promoting a biased opinion. They harbor a lot of resentment, shown through the statements on that list that are based on the writers opinion. I'd look to other sources. There are a lot of negative effects that can happen with augmentation, but I'd want to get the facts from a unbiased opinion.

Just a note: The silicone used in cohesive gel implants can still break up and migrate through the body - even solid silicone can do this. The other factor is silicone oil which can seep into the body and may cause problems for some people. Silicone oil is in all silicone products including saline implants.

As for biased and unbiased opinions - it's fair to say that alot of the pro BA literature out there is biased (Often funded by the manurfacturers themselves or people with a financial interest in the product - this is normal practice in all areas of medicine.) Like it or not it pays and makes sense to check the good and the bad info to get a good picture and make an informed dicision.

If the authour is biased about having 48 reasons not to have a BA then perhaps it's worth looking into as to why.

I believe pro ba sites are biased as well, most are sponsored by doctors and ran by woman who have had a successful ba. I'm just saying, this site listed seems a tad bit too bitter for me to take seriously. For example, the number 20 on this list is as quoted:
"20) If I am not making myself clear, let me spell it out right now: implants are fucking ugly! Implants only look good on the level of first impressions. Expect people in your life to react with an initial charge followed by a gradual accumulation of disgust. Anyone who likes you over the long term will do so in spite of them, not because of them -- the same as they would if you had a glass eye. "
I'd much rather get the facts from a site that has their list based on research, not some harsh hateful opinion.

ugh! everyone's biased! o, well. i have natural DD's so i'm not planning on getting a BA anytime soon.... i was thinking about maybe when i'm older and have nursed a child or two, i might consider getting them lifted and filled. hopefully by then, the technology will be even better. and boobie greed doesn't just happen to girls with implants! i wish mine were a little bigger, and i'm terrified they'll shrink now that i'm trying to lose weight!

i'm going to go back to casting spells to make them grow. it's worked before, and it seems like the safest and cheapest option by far.

edit: in fact, according to my measurements, i'm actually an F cup, but i never wear one, since they're so damn hard to find. the closest i can usually get is D or DD! see what i mean about boobie greed?

I have a spell somewhere for breast enlargement too - never tried it, I seem to prefur hexing people rather than doing positive magic (-:
    Hypnosis works for some women!
Re nursing - I breast fed my son for 2 years, my boobs went back to pretty much the same as before pregnancy. I put it down to healthy eating and taking huge doses of vitamin C (which I read about.)
