For the record, I enjoyed this movie. HOSTEL Film Clips

Disclaimer: some clips are very bloody and disturbing.

    Enjoy

I enjoyed it also - but I find it interesting how they use xenophobia so much.

Outside the US is strange and dangerous lands. Europeans hunt, deceive, drug, and kill Americans (and Japanese.) Corruption is everywhere. So many strange speaking people wielding sharp instruments against our American friends.

And if you want to get scared of Australia, watch Wolf Creek. Now I'm convinced to never go on vacation. These movies all remind me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre style stuff, though.

My ex freaked out when she learned we were going to live in Travis county. LOL!

This seems to be the new trend in Hollywood. "Outside" is scary and dangerous.

New? Dracula came out in 1931 - he was from Eastern Europe too.

"The other" has long been used as something scary.

I liked the movie quite a bit, and yes it has that Texas Chainsaw Massacre quality. The movie has some gore in it, but the anticipation of gore is much worse. And I didn't find it too dark at all. Some good humor (albeit black) and the final reel makes it a much different movie than the commercials portray.

Sorry to knock this back up, but I finally got around to seeing this. I thought it was a bit silly, honestly. Still...it was entertaining. And hey....did anyone else notice the main american guy looked remarkably like a darker-skinned Hal Sparks?

I'm totally seeing this movie as soon as it's available on Netflix. It's got a "Short Wait" still.. Ugh!

Yeah it was more bloody and disturbing than scary. It was a good movie though.

I rented it a few days ago. The acting sucked and it looked low budget. I have seen way better horror movies.

Eastern Europe is the pretty much the only part I'd worry about.
