    Default modeling rates??

I have recently started modeling, and have had a few photographers contact me asking my rates. I realized I had no idea what to tell them! For those of you who model, what are the rates you would suggest for a new model like me with little experience? what are your rates (for those who model)? Just wanted to know some comparisions, I would appreciate any and all feedback.

And in advance, sorry if this is the wrong forum, I posted in other work and my post never showed up, and I need to know pretty soon. thanks in advance!!

Most beginning models dont get offered much payed work. Consider it a lucky thing. A lot of girls get TFP offers....

When I started out, I stayed at about $50 an hour.

If you get a lot of TFP offers, I wouldnt turn them away just because they dont want to pay. New models need to build their portfolios.

But yeah, $50 an hour isnt too much but isnt too little either.

I started at $100/hr with a 3 hour minimum for Playboy style nudes... rates go up from there... its just not worth it for less than $300. I would also put that rates are negotiable so they dont run the other way...

I don't know much about adults, but as a kid, I got $200-$300/hour and usually worked for 4-6 hours. Of course, I had people to pay after that so after taxes and fees, about 50% was gone

It's like asking "how high is up." Some people will stay busy at $150/hour - others can't find work at $40/hour. Some people don't want to work at less than $150/hour, if that means one shoot a month - others want to keep working and will keep rates lower to keep work flowing in.

You should be aware, too, that some photographers who are willing to pay really good rates aren't that great of photographers. Get samples of their work. Get references. The highly-placed professionals don't pay models to shoot. They get paid to shoot models.

I'll echo what Paige says. I can find a very nice-looking and experienced art model who knows how to pose for $50/hour. I've had brand-new models who have worked anywhere from free to 50. Logically, the less experienced you are, the less you charge - the less experienced they are, the more the wannabe photographers should pay. It doesn't always work that way, of course.

Yes, this is more apporpriately in Other Work. Perhaps there was a connection problem or a burp in the system.

It really depends on what type of work they are asking. Since you've just started if it's for semi-professional work, then charge only for nude work. If it is for amatures then work with them and get some experience for free except for nude. You should always try to get paid for nude work. If it is for a professional photographer then you should get at least $50 per hour for min of 3 hours shoot, and go up from there. $100 per hour for lingerie and $200-$300 per hour for nude and $300-$400 for adult related.
But as a beginner, if you find a great photographer, do a TFP/CD to build your portfolio.
