    Default Individualising Costumes?

    Hi,

I just started working at a club and I'm just curious how you guys individualise what you wear?

I like my rock chick & punk look, as well as an 1950s style pin up look personally and I'd love to wear this kinda stuff to work... but I am too scared to because all the other girls dress relatively similar... chemise and slinky lingerie. I'm sure that by offering something different by the way i dress i could get some interest from customers, but would i be too different?

Does anyone else here have a completely different look to the rest of the girls at your club? How does this go down with customers and management?

    Thanks,

    S xxx

It is good to be an individual when you work in your club. BUT at the same time, what sort of clientele do you have? If it's a bunch of middle-aged business men then you may scare them with your "rock and roll" look.

At my club we have groups with "similar" styles. All patrons have something that they like. If after you think about the type of clientele that your club has doesn't work with the "look" that you're trying to possess then why not continue to do the similiar dress style of chemise/slinky lingerie but don a flower in your hair?? Something so small but makes you stand apart instantly.

    Hope that helps,
    CK

Ha, yes I do, so I say give it a try!
Overall I can't say it's been a problem for me but sometimes there can be what I call "varying degrees of freakness" which may not always work. A bit of trial and error though and you'll be fine! Some clubs have stricter dress code than others so it's worth checking what they are beforehand or having back-up costumes incase they are not cool with your look

    Good luck! (-:

I totally have a different look than the other girls at my work. I don't wear a SHIT TON of makeup, I wear my hair in a conservative style, and my costumes are mainly elegant and sophisticated. I wear a LOT of black and a lot of rhinestone. The thing is... my boobs are not that big so some of the low-cut and revealing stuff looks stupid on me. I like long sleeved things and that is not so popular with the other girls.

I think it's great to be an individual but all-in-all, the custies came to see you with your clothes OFF!!! DO what you want and have fun!

Try to figurte out what the guys in your club would like to see, that the other girls are not giving them. In my club, I am the galm chick. Every body else wanders around in little stripper dresses and lingerie, while I wear street dresses, slack outfits, and gowns.

I got the idea to do this, in part, b/c when I was growing up, Gilligan's Island reruns were incredibly popular. Well, who do I look like on a popular TV show? Ginger, of course. Guy MY AGE and older came home from shool every day and atched the show, and listened to the song where, when they show Tina Marie, the singers call her "the movie star" in a hushed, breatless voice. They are already conditioned to believe that tall, glamourous redheads are sexy. I just play into it. It also suits my personal style.

I would look at the age of the guys in your club, and figure out what is hot to the couple of generations that seem to come into your club most often. If they are in thier 30's, for example, they went to high school in the 80's. You could try a glam-rock look with big hair and black eye liner.(Think Heart or Stevie Nicks or Pat Benetar or the Bangles) Or you could try looking like Madonna in her Lucky Star video. Or a menswear look with a big shirt tie, and fidora. (LIke Dimi Moore did in Striptease) You don;t want to look TOO costum-y, just try to capture the look and feel of the decade.

You can also do some market research, asking guys what they thought was hot wehn they were in high school. You can even start the convo by saying you were looking at some old pictures of yoruself (or if you are really young, your mom) in high school, and wow. it's amazing how much things change!

Who cares what the others wear? I have the typical stripper outfits but also have a couple 50s glam outfits... cute white 50s bikini with stockings and rhinestones. My makeup is very 50s glam everynite (cept when i want something different and do a punk rock dark makeup look)

Well thanks for the advice girls...

I have managed to fit in okay with the girls and put a slight edge on my look which I'm proud of! The first night of working I got a ton of comments about my long legs... so on the second night I bought fishnet stockings along and the compliments came rolling in! Plus i am the only girl who wears them because I dont go on stage just yet! I ended up giving them away... hehe... now I gotta go buy more hehe
