    Default How Much H2O...

    is enough?

In an effort to improve my overall health, I am trying to drink more water a day. But the "recommended" quantities differ. Currently, I drink 3 or 4 half-liter bottles a day. I am sure this is not enough, but I really don't know what is.

The usual recommendation "six 8-oz. glasses" doesn't really apply - I only drink bottled water. How much would that be in bottles?

In the AM, I drink a small glass of cranberry juice to take my vitamins. Then, a bit later I have 2 cups of coffee. I try to drink 1 bottle of H2O in the morning hours, 1 with lunch, 1 in the afternoon, and 1 with dinner.

How much H2O do you ladies drink per day?

Look at the label on your bottles...it will say what a serving aize is (typically it wills ay 8 oz) and how many are in that bottle (most standard bottles have 2 8 oz servings).

Well, you may be a little short...

For every 8 oz. cup of coffee you drink you are supposed to drink an extra cup of water. So, throughout your day, if you have 2 cups of coffee (8 oz. size) then you should be drinking 10-12 glasses of water. Same rule applies to cigarettes and pop.

I agree , lay off the coffe and you're great. I always heard it as divide your weight in two and that is the number of onces you should drink..unless like posted exercise and saunas.

the bottles will say how much water, in oz. they have in them. if you need 6 8 oz glasses of water a day, you need 48 total oz of water.

oh god if you drink a soda you are supposed to drink more water? I'm going to be wetting my bed soon dammit! My trainer tells me everyone should have at least twelve 8 oz. glasses of water. I have a hard time getting it all in. I pee a lot, partly because I'm on meds that have a diuretic effect and partly because, well, I've always peed a lot. I get up in the night 2 or 3 times every night to pee. If I was a guy I'd think I had prostate problems.

bunny if you have to get up that often at night you're either drinking too much or have an overactive bladder...... frequent urges can also be caused by some meds. you might want to ask your doc about it. i think there's a new med out for overactive bladder now that's supposed to help fix the problem.

Since you only drink bottled water, buy it buy the gallon. My trainer recommends a gallon a day since I like a couple cups of coffee. You don't have to drink it out of the jug....

Divide your weight in half, then drink that many ounces of water per day.

I'm perpetually thirsty and I have an oral fixation, so I just swig on it constantly all day long. If you always have it with you, and drink out of it whenever you see it, then you'll get enough. It sounds like you're doing fine.

I constantly tote a water bottle with me. I refill it during the day and make sure I drink a glass before every meal (it helps to curb your appetite).

As far as ounces, I probably drink over 100 ounces, but drink at least one diet coke as well. Oh, plus at least one glass of red wine...does anyone know how alcohol affects your water intake requirements?

Alcohol, coffee, pop, anything that has caffeine and/or nicotine is a diuretic. Which simply means that it flushes your body of water. If you are drinking 8 glasses of water a day and drinking 3 glasses of coffee a day...then you technically are short 3 glasses of water.

You will pee more when you up your intake of water, however that should subside as your body gets used to having the steady supply of water.

Bunny...if you are taking pills that have a diuretic effect, make sure your doctor knows this. What are the pills for and are there any alternatives to them?

I buy the gallon water containers too and keep it in my home. Drink it straight from the jug around my house. In addition i carry bottled waters. I have slacked off and this thread has motivated me to start again. I feel so much better when i do it. Takes off exta tummy buldge.

Guess it's more H2O for me! I have 2 cups of coffee in the morning. I don't drink a lot of soda, but will occasionally have a Diet Pepsi fountain drink or some juice (I love cranberry juice blends - high in sugar, I know).
Last night I bought larger gallon-sized bottles of H2O and I am going to try to drink from those when at home, and save the 1/2 liter bottles for traveling/work.

I definitely feel a difference if I drink water. I feel less sluggish and less hungry throughout the day. Also, I am more...how should I say...regular? So, it's a matter of me not being lazy and drinking enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Sometimes I put some lemon juice in the water (the lemon juice from a bottle) to add a little flavor. That seems to make it easier to drink sometimes.

dang i thought i was making some great accomplishments on the days when i'd manage to drink a whole gallon of water or more but you ladies seem to do it on the regular! it really does slim you down, curb your appetite, and give you more energy though... note to self: more h2o!

I take Spironolactone for PCOS. It was prescribed by a doctor (a specialist in fact). I know it makes me pee a lot but I used to pee a lot before I took it too. I've just gotten used to it I guess. I have heard about other meds for my condition but I have taken this one for a few years and it's given me the best results so I'm going to stick with it.

Now my boyfriend has wet the bed (as an adult). wtf is up with that? At least I haven't peed my bed. Maybe he's a really deep sleeper.
