Default SCJ NFL Playoff Contest - Version 3.0

All right Junkies, wild card weekend is over and its that time of year again.

Here's the old rules. I'll let you come up with the lame ass prizes this year, although I think the vacation destination this year should by Pattaya.

Guess the four participants of the conference championships and who will win each game and eventually the Super Bowl.

Each participant correct = 1 point (possible 4).
Each conference champion correct = 3 points (possible 6).
Super Bowl champion correct = 5 points.
Maximum score possible = 15. Total number of points scored by both teams in the SB will be a tiebreaker.

New 2nd tiebreaker rule for this year (which I hope that we don't have to use). Total number of points scored by both team in the SB at HALFTIME.

Third tiebreaker will be an argument between Mr. Punk and Jenny. Shortest straw gets to pick who's manager they are.

    Okay, these are the brackets.

    AFC
    Steelers at Colts
    Patriots at Broncos

    NFC
    Panthers at Bears
    Redskins at Seahawks

All picks must be in by the first kickoff next weekend. Good prognosticating luck to you all.

Colts VS Patriots in the AFC
Panthers VS Seahawks in the NFC
    Patriots take the AFC
    Seahawks take the NFC
Patriots over the Seahawks in the Superbowl.
Total score by halftime will be 35.

A few lapdances at the Go Go Rama in Laurence Harbor would be a great prize. LOL

Red already did the work for me, except I think the halftime total will be 27, and the game total will be 50. I added the final score tiebreaker after reading RH below. If RedZ28 doesn't notice, I have his bet covered.

Both of you are wrong then (sporty & redz).

    Colts over Steelers
    Patriots over Broncos

    Panthers over Bears
    Seahawks over Redskins

    Colts over Patriots
    Seahawks over Panthers

    Colts over Seahawks

    Tiebreaker: Total points = 44
    Half time points = 24

Okay I edited the tiebreaker, I thought it was only the half time score, so kill me I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed.

Okay, were set. Looks like there's nine of us (well effectively eight since Sporty has Red covered). If the Broncos win tomorrow, that probably isn't going to matter much, and Jay will be kicking himself for not entering.

Here's the pick chart. Give me a holler if I messed yours up.

Sporty: That was incredible. If Belichick wants to show next year's rookies what the definition of "Heart" is he's got his video.

Or what the definition of Ultimate Freak is. From yesterday's Boston Globe: "Some of the numbers on the 6-foot-3-inch, 253-pounder are difficult to believe. A sub-4.5-second 40-yard dash, a 535-pound bench press, 380-pound power clean, and 40-inch vertical leap, plus a score in the top 1 percent of NFL draftees on the Wunderlich intelligence test."

Ultimate freak? I guess that's one way to look at it. He works out, he pushes his body, he's driven to perform and he's smart. I wouldn't apply the word freak to any of that. It's just hard work and determination.

The term FREAK is a high compliment reserved for football, basketball and track athletes who push the limits of athleticism. It's not at all derogatory in that context.

Sporty: I understand it's your way of giving the guy his due. No explanation was needed. To me the word denotes some sort of natural phenomanon. That, in and of itself isn't a bad thing but doesn't give enough credit to the work ethic involved in becoming a great athlete. But hey, I don't get out much. If that's what you kids are saying out there it's OK by me....

As much as I hate Bill Cower's jawbone I hate Peyton Manning smug "Superman" smile even more. Any quarterback who sends the punting team off the field after his coach sends them on doesn't deserve to win. The only thing more fun than the look on Tony Dungee's face when it happened was watching Vandermouth kick the field goal that would have tied the game wiiiiiiiiiide right...

BTW, pass interferance that didn't happen, interceptions being overrulled, what's the deal with the blatant homer officiating last night and this afternoon????

I'm glad Peyton's reputation as being unable to win the big one is still intact. The football gods frowned on me and my Pats, but smiled and put the Steelers into the AFC championship game. The sting of losing to the Broncos is much lessened now that Peyton is out. No excuses, bitch.

Reality finally struck in the great run of the Pats. The call was a brutal call, negating some outstanding coverage by Assante Samuel. I did see enough to be confident that the Pats will be back again next year- focused, locked and loaded. Pats fan since 1968 and I never thought I'd see our team ever considered among the elite teams!

Alright sorry for the double post, but on the subject of freak. Yoda sometimes in your exchanges with Sporty you refer to some of his favs as freaks. Would that be a natural "freak", or does that require a lot of offseason preparation to achieve the designation "freak"? Just teasing, but the question begged to be asked!
