Default you girls have inspired me

just wanted to let y'all know that you have inspired me. i really want to dance, and i've decided that not only would i need to be in better shape (i.e., more stamina, strength) to do that, i'm going to lose some lbs. i'm taking tonalin and i've started paying attention to my diet, counting calories, eating whole grains and fruit and veggies, leaving the taco bell to the rest of the household, and excersising when i can. i'm sure i'll be healthier when this is in full swing, and it will probably help with my depression and migraines too, so thankyou ladies! you've inspired me!

    Congrats Venus!

I think it's great to focus on being as healthy as possible, rather than trying to just achieve a number on a scale. And I definitely think you'll find that with regular exercise and a healthy diet, your depression and headaches will improve.

One thing that really helps me is always having cut up veggies on hand to nibble on. I keep them in snack-sized baggies in the fridge so I can grab one when heading out. That way I have something to eat instead of stopping by McDonalds.

I have also found that if I wear fitness/yoga wear during the day, it makes me more focused on exercise. I can then drop and do 50 situps whenever the mood strikes.

I'm very proud of you, we're all here to support you! You are one confident, sexy little vixen, and I know you'll be even more confident when you're focused on becoming healthier!

    Best of luck,

    Kat

Good luck venus. I have read some of your posts and you seem to have the attitude to make it in this business. It takes a lot out of you mentally and I think you are prepared for it from what you have wrote on this site. Let me know how it goes and if you need help with anything.

Make sure you drink a lot of water. It's important to stay hydrated if you are working out, and it also helps fill you up between meals, so you won't feel the need to snack on unhealthy foods throughout the day.

    Venus, good job!
The carrots are a good idea, when you eat them, its actually taking calories! If you want a work out email buddy/motivator feel free to pm me I'm on my last 15 pounds myself.

I thought carrots were one of the more high calorie veggies? I love them but usually eat celery and broccoli since I thought these were lower in calories. But if not, bring on the carrots!

Carrots are so high in vitamins and other nutrients that you shouldn't worry about the few calories they contain. Calories are not something evil to be avoided at all cost; you need a couple thousand a day. Just make sure they count, which means they should come from healthy, nutritious food. Carrots certainly qualify.

Just don't overdo it on carrots or your skin and eyes will turn yellow. I've seen this happen to a couple of people. It's not harmful, but it looks weird!

i know that's supposed to be true, yekhefah, but i guess i must be accustomed to it or something. i've inhaled the things all my life and never turned yellow! everyone thinks it's weird, but i literally do consume like 5 lbs of carrots in 3 days sometimes and have no problem.

good job on watching what you eat!! i myself am doing the same, I use to do private dancing, but have always wanted to work in a club, but since I met my boyfriend, I've gained some weight!

I'll keep you in mind when i want some candy, that you are sticking to your diet, so I should stick to mine!!

    good luck!

if you do start to turn yellow, VoW, go to a doctor, because its a sign of liver dysfunction... in your case i wouldnt write it off as too many carrotts... just so ya know

If you like cucumbers..... I loved them sliced up and eaten raw or into pita pockets for crunch. Keep up the good work!

Re: Tonalin use-I have been using Tonalin CLA with wonderfully positive results for over 1 year, but I do have to warn you, if you get thin enough & have a time where you eat scantly.....your eyes & face will look really gaunt from the Tonalin shrinking your muscles tight. I flipped out when that happened. Just wanted to warn you, since otherwise all the other effects are great.....

PS My brother went from overweight to scarily skinny on an Asian food diet...I was trippin' since we're Latino & that cuisine is far heavier/ different than Asian, I thought he would get sick...but no, he's still thin as a rail.

I'm so proud of you!!! *hugs*

You'll do fine hun, I'm sure.

If you like the taste of lemons, try eating one of those a day too. Citric acid is good for your body, and help burn fat.

I also took Cayanne Pepper pills (since the actual spice is WAY too hot for me, lol), they are awesome for stimulating your metabolism and helping keep your heart healthy.

You sound like your on the right track, keep it up!!!

thanks for all the advice and support everyone! *(~big hugs~)*

and i have to try those cayenne pills, kitana! that's a great idea!

and i'll keep that in mind, maxine, but i doubt that'll be a problem for me, seeing as i've never been thin in my life, and obesity is a huge problem in my family. plus, i love food too much!
