    Default Oh the PAIN

So I have been taking vitamins, diet supplements, and eating better. Ive been dancing a week now and today is the worst ever. I have bruises everywhere and my knees are swollen and bruised BADLY. I feel wimpy, but I can barely move right now. I need to work, but I feel if I do my body will colapse, especially my knees I have beautiful long legs but have to wear stockings or fishnets everyday. My knees are the scariest. How long does this newbie stage last? How long till my knees stop bruising?? Till I can bear to actually work more than 10 minutes at a time?

Arnica cream, warm Epsom salt baths, and massage your knees.

Totally normal. I looked like nancy kerrigan in the knee department at first...

I hear vitamin C is helpful for lessening bruising. Also i swear by "Hirudoid" cream.

The more you dance, the tougher your knees will become.

It took about 2 months for me to build up immunity in my knees. After a while I stopped getting as many bruises. Bruising never really goes away, but I know what can help --- The previous post is 100% correct;Use an ARNICA cream as soon as you're through with your shift. It really helps with bruising and massaging it in is pretty darn soothing too.

    Is Arnica cream expensive?
Is it only at health stores?

my solution for when i danced and didn't want to hurt my knees was to take foamy cosmetic sponges, place them on my knees, secure with athletic tape, and then wrap them in a self-adhesive bandage. of course, this looked weird alone, so i'd wear cute legwarmers or thigh high boots...which went well with my look (goth/dom). the foamy stuff absorbed the shock of my knee hitting the floor, and i had less pain and bruising. this wasn't as bulky as knee pads, but if you are wearing regular shoes it won't look right at all.....hope you feel better!

yes, where do you find arnica cream? I've been hearing about this stuff. My pole is beaten the crap of me. I've got bruises on my ribs, thighs, knees, shins, ankles and top of my feet! I bruise super easy.

Health food stores sell arnica cream, maybe even sporting goods stores...

An easy way to avoid bruising is to wear knee-high boots with athletic socks up to the knees....& over time, you'll learn how to NOT slam yourself into surfaces. I used to have knarly bruises from the pole & floor, but by the last few years, none ever.

OMG I feel like such a nerd. I finally realized why my dancer shoes have a flat part on the toe.Duh! Wish I would have put 2 and 2 together before I killed my knees
