Default Who do you dress for?

I was talking to a few of my girlfriends tonight, and we were talking about who women dress for. Not when they're out to pick up men, or working at the club but on a daily basis. My friend said that women dress to impress women, and actually, when I thought about it, she's right.

I for one, spend a lot of money on having lots of beautiful, funky shoes. It's my signature. But a compliment from a woman with style on my shoes means more to me than a man's. I mean the woman probably reads fashion magazines, knows whats in and out knows what looks timeless or trashy...whereas a man...well, most men only notice if its high heels and they drool...

I think for the most part, yoru average man only notices if the woman has curves...unless the outfit is really gnarly, he doesn't care what she's wearing...women are more critical, so I suppose I dress more to get compliemtns fromw omen.

    Any thoughts?

I for one dress for myself, to be able to admire my sense of style. I will admit that a compliment from a friend does more for me than a compliment from a stranger, no matter whether they be male or female. I don't really trust compliments from women i don't know.

I dress for the occasion, and myself.

Women dress to piss other women off. Shit, just come on out and admit it. When you and your gf's go out, you get dolled up. Killer hair, makeup, outfit and not to mention shoes. We just can't wait to walk up in the joint and watch that LOOK the other women give us.

I'll admit it. When I go out, I LOVE IT when a women looks me up and down and makes that "she thinks she's the shit" face at me. That's when I know my job here is done.

Honestly, the only time I get dressed up or wear make-up outside of the club is to go eat a nice dinner with my husband or a night out on the town with friends. Otherwise, I am in work-out clothes or sweats, no make-up and my hair in a pony tail. Once I get all that attention in the club I try to avoid it outside the club.

Me too! Before I started dancing, I loved getting attention from guys when I went out. I'd always wear cute little shirts, short skirts, and tight jeans. Now I don't want the attention and I usually wear baggy clothes and no makeup.

Very true Cinammon! Although I dress a lot according to my mood. If I'm feeling sexy(or just want that lil confidence boost) I got all out and make myself look sexy. Although, all out for me isn't much...just a hot outfit and nice shoes...not too much makeup or accessories. On the other hand, if I feel like shit...it's a baggy t-shirt and jeans. Well, it always jeans! Lol! Gotta love em!

When i was working the clubs, that was a goal (lol) yes. But to get dressed up sexy and go out with a man or gf's...No! It's for me. If i feel sexy i have a better night. There is no competetion if it's not work, so i don't think about other women and try to look better or piss them off, that is sooo out of my mind.

I appreciate looking at a woman who is dressed nice, sexy. I will often point her out!

Those days of dressing to (perhaps, damn i don't think i ever did this out of work) are way over after college.

depends on the occasion....i like getting all dolled up to go to the club, out on a date or even if i just happen to be in the mood. but sometimes i like to dress down in sweats or work out clothes if i'm just in a chillin out mode. i love the attention i get, but i dress for myself and however i feel like looking that day.

I dress up to to get my ego driven by the opposite sex. It's good to know that guys think you're smoking. I can care LESS what girls think of me to be honest. Girls will always criticize & say negative shit, so it don't bother me one bit if they look or not & judge. As an adult, I never cared for that. I care about the cack! LOL.

I like to be comfortable, and casually-naturally hot. Tight jeans and comfy tops that cling in the right places. I don't usually wear makeup outside the club, usually just powder and blush and maybe mascara, but I do make sure my hair looks good.

My favorite look isn't the one I get from women, but the one my bf gets from men. Women don't give me that look unless I get really dolled up. But I love it when I'm out with my bf and the other guys check me out and give him that envious look.

I dress up for events. When I'm seeing a friend who I'm just getting to know, and I'm feeling uncertain about my image with them, I'll often dress up for that, whether they're female or male.

I have a weird thing that I don't think most women do -- when I'm taking it from "friendship/casual dating" to "I am serious about this person, I care about them a lot, I want them in my life", I'll purposely dress down, or wear styles I wouldn't usually -- in order to gain a sense of assurance that they don't care what I'm wearing.

When I'm seeing someone I'm very close to who I haven't seen in a long time, I dress up.

I dress up in usually a very male-style jacket and nice slacks plus makeup when I'm going out to karaoke, or another situation where I have to wow people with my charm. That combo really does it for me -- stylish androgyny. I wore a three-piece suit and bowler with makeup for my wedding. :-)
