    Girlz w/extensions, please help! :)

I recently (1 month ago) got hair extensions. Its real hair, and they are the glue kind. Here's my problem, my real hair is just above my shoulders, and my extensions go down about 6 inches above my bum. I'm having problems blending my hair in with the extensions. My stylist did it, and showed me, but I just can't figure it out. most people say they can't see it, but I can!! Any tips, products, things I can try to help?? Thanks!

I just got my extenstions thursday and she cut my real hair into front layers and the fake hair into front layers too to blend it better. Did she cut your hair to match your extentions?

Yes, and I have the layers in the front. My main problem is in the back, and a little bit on the sides.

is your natural hair texture similar to that of the extensions? that has a large part in how they blend with your hair. a few years ago i got waist length ones that were curly to match my real hair (held by hot wax...about 300 of them), so it all dried together naturally (as opposed to the first time i got extensions...they were straight and my hair was curly...i ended up taking them out with a seam ripper a week later, wasting 400 bucks). since yours are real hair instead of synthetic, you can curl or straighten it at the same time, use some holding gel, and expect to get similar results. how it looks in the end depends on many factors: how to comb and blend them, but ultimately how your stylist put them in. your hair and the extensions should ideally look like a layered, yet cohesive ensemble.

on a positive note: if others don't notice, then you are probably the only one noticing any differences. after all, you are aware of them. as for particular products, it really depends on the character of your own hair, and that of the extensions.

My natural hair is really fine (the reason I got extension instead of letting it grow) so it pretty much blends with everything. But there is like a line where my hair ends, typically on the back. My extensions are straight. I am just such a perfectionist its driving me nuts, I feel like everyone's looking at them! (even though I'm sure they aren't)

no worries....no one will be able to see the line in the club lighting...and you'll make lots of extra cash with the extensions but i do understand your concerns...hehe....it's like those last three vanity pounds, or monthly pms water retention: the only one that notices is the victim.

after a month or so you probably don't have to worry about them being redone yet...but be aware that as time passes, they will begin to grow out as your natural hair grows....but don't worry about that yet....make lots of cash!

Thanks so much! I feel a little bit better, though I have a feeling I'll be spending hours in the bathroom with a straightening iron and hair serum. lol. Thank god for bad lighting in clubs!!

    Wait, she glued them in?

Okay, I have had much expierience with fake hair (lol) I have had glued in extensions, sewed in, etc.

I would suggest NOT getting them glued in next time. It was too hard for me to wash them, and glue really does a nasty number on your hair too. I would recommened investing in some nice human hair, maybe go a little shorter, and have them sew in pieces (Which is like gluing, except they cornrow parts of your hair, then sew the tracks on with heavy duty thread). It can last 2-3 months.

If you curl your hair it should blend in better- I do this often for work. I just use a very large barrel curling iron. I also get my extensions cut in choppy layers and straighten it, and use a texturizer. The choppy layers look really cool, and blend in better with my real hair, which is shoulder length. Other days, after washing my hair, I just put in some gel and let it air dry. It looks nice, but not too "done". It's more of a messy look. Just experiment a little. I have real human hair attatched with wax, and I love it! I use 2 bags of hair, which is a lot, which makes it easier for my stylist to cut choppy layers without it looking horrible.
