Default I'm getting my lips done!!!

OK! So, i'm getting them done! I have decently full lips, but i want that hot pouty look. I'm going with restaline (sp) and I'm getting my lips 'frozen' so I don't feel anything. Anybody out there gotten their lips done before? How long does it take to wear off (the numbing). I know I should ask the doctor, but thats on monday and he hasn't gotten it done, so I want opinions from people who know first hand haha. Anything else I should know? Did your lips get wrinkly after it wore of (the actual injection).
Any advice would be appreciated lol

Congrats and good luck! But make sure you are very, very careful in choosing your doctor because A LOT can go wrong.

The shot they use to numb you hurts a lot and it actually makes you more swollen than if you get the restylane alone.
The swelling and bruising can last for two weeks but is really bad for the first few days after getting the restylane.

Be sure to use a lot of ice to help with that and the bruising.
I have only had it in my top lip and at first it looks like duck lips.
Also, it can form hard lumps that take awhile to go away. I had two on the inside part of my lip that lasted almost a month and made my smile look horrible and lopsided.

I still have a little bit left in my lips but I don't think I will be getting it redone. It's just to painful and the results are so unpredictable.
Plus, my doctor (who is the ''top plastic surgeon'' in the area) hit a nerve once which could have resulted in me losing part of my lip. I don't mean to scare you but I wish someone had told me this before I had my lips done.

My lips did look very full and ''puffy'' once the swelling wore off and it made my lips look awesome from my profile. I had him focus on the inside corners and the lip border. I recommend getting some on your lip border if you like adrianna lima's lip's (she has restylane) but it is painful so if you have access to a pain reliever like vicodin then take one a half hour before your appt. I had to take one to endure the pain and it still hurt. There is no way in hell I would let that needle near my lips without one. But im a baby with pain.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask

    Good luck!

Ahhhh!!!! Omg I'm so nervous now haha.
I start beauty school on tuesday and I was hoping that I wouldn't ne too swollen for my first day lol. I didn't want to be too insanely obvious. Which...now that you have informed me... I know is impossible haha. I'm excited though, I'm getting it along the borders too! I loooove her lips! I'm going to bring pictures of her, mila kunis (that 70s show), and carmen electra (her new lips, you can tell she got em done!)
The dr. i'm going to is AMAZING. I know his representative personally, and I've seen his work on a lot of people. I made sure I saw tons of pics and I even got references, woot woot!
Did the injection sites scab over on yours? Was the swelling ridiculous? Lol, I really don't want to look like I got punched in the face... How much did yours cost? I'm getting it done for 400... How long did yours last? He said it depends on a persons metabolism?

Oh... and I've had my lip pierced before... right under the border and on the side a little. I did it for a photoshoot lol. Do you think it'd hurt worse than that??

No scabbing whatsoever. I don't know about it hurting more than a lip piercing since I have never had my lip pierced but the needle is much smaller so it shouldn't be quite as bad.
The most painful part for me was the inner corners and the numbing shot because they use a huge needle for that. My eyes were watering.
As for the cost I paid $725 which I think is a bit high compared to what most doctors charge. The average cost is usually around $550.00.

I have really sensitive skin so I think I bruised more than some people would. Maybe your's wont be as bad.
How much are you getting in? And are you doing both upper and lower? Try to avoid the mirror as much as possible after you get it done and remember that they are very swollen and your end result will be much more soft and natural.

You will love the results once that swelling is down. I had SO much more confidence when I got mine done. A lot of people told me that my lips looked like angelina Jolie's from the side which was a really nice compliment.

When my boyfriend kissed me he said ''wow, your new lips feel really real'' so don't worry about other people thinking they feel fake. If you have a good doctor you will be just fine.

Post some before/after pics when the swelling goes down.
    Good luck sweetie!

Here is a couple of message boards on lip augumentation that are really helpful.

If you have any more questions just ask.....I just woke up so im still a little groggy but if I think of anything else that I forgot to put in here I will let you know.

Oh and the shot they use to numb you should wear off a few hours after the procedure is finished. You won't be able to feel your lips during that time which makes talking and eating very awkward.

Ahhhhh I'm nervous lol. Some people I talk to say it didn't hurt a bit, others say it was so horrible they'd never do it again. Hmmm!!! Do you think I'll look like a circus freak for my first day of school?? (The very next day?)
I know that I'm supposed to ice it ALOT, but do you have any other tips?

Take some ibuprofin a few hours before the injections and after.
Unfortunatly, The ice and time is the only thing that will help with the swelling.
Im sure you will be fine just cover any bruising with makeup. I wore a long lasting ,dark plum shade lipstick when I went out untill the swelling went down because it made my lips look smaller plus it covered the bruising on my lips (the insides of my lips were black and blue and around my lip border was also bruised.)

The good thing about the restylane is that it looks more natural than any of the other lip fillers. Collegen and restylane are like apples and oranges! Totally different in the way they look feels and how long they last.
    restylane last's a lot longer.
I first got mine in mid june and then got a touch up in nov. and I still have a tiny bit in my lips.
I don't know about the metabolism being a factor in how long it lasts.
I have a pretty fast metabolism and the restylane lasted 7 months for me.
It will last longer on the lip border than in the lips. My border is still puffy.

My advice is to not use the whole syringe at once.
Have the doctor save a little in case your lips are uneven.

Also, you don't want to look too unnatural so it's better to under do it than over do it because you can always add more and it doesn't hurt or swell as much the 2nd time around. Trust me, less is more with the restylane a little goes a long way.
Plus, when you want a touch up (and you probaly will) you won't have to buy an entire syringe again.

In my experience it seems like the more you put in the more swelling you will have.

Also, I think the worst my lips looked was on the day I got them. They kept swelling up more and more. The next day they were not as bad although they were still quite swollen.

If anybody asks just say you had dental work.
