    Default Another Ebay rant...

So, I won and paid for an auction on 12/22/05. After an email or two to the seller, no response until 1/05/06. Then it's just, oh, I had an emergency and I couldn't send anything out, but I'm sending it right now. I waited 5 more days and then filed a complaint with PayPal. PayPal refunded my money on 01/18/06 almost a full month after the payment was originally made. The package came on that same day (or maybe I picked it up yesterday...I don't remember). Anywho, I was going to PayPal back the money since I ended up receiving the package. Well, I jump online and find a email from the seller threatening to leave negative feedback and going to PayPal and reporting me. WTF? I did what I needed to do to save my own hide. Anyways, I wrote her back and said that SHE was the one who was at fault. That SHE should have communicated more...she couldn't "prove" that the package was sent (no tracking numbers, no DC, nothing). Sorry, I'm just really fucking annoyed. I have perfect feedback and pay for my stuff the day the auction is over. I'm going to be pissed if she leaves me negative feedback.

Anywho...on with your regularly scheduled program.

That sucks, I've dealt with sellers like that before, the someone died, but if you look through their feedback, you see that they have had a ton of deaths lately!
On the other hand, I have had sellers who have worked with me above and beyond. It's the luck of the bid, sorry it happend, but if you have plenty of feedback, just reply to her feedback. Feedback can also be removed by ebay, so if it is bad, go to the ebay managers, and question weather or not she should be aloud to continue to do business on ebay.

bummer... I hate angry people who don't write back and then get all pissy. I had one person take a month to send something out and then had the nerve to get mad at me when I wrote her for the third time about it.. She told me to check my emails since she had written me back a number of times (no, no emails). When she found out I had no record of her writing me (ebay keeps a record) her tune changed and she turned into a nice person.. Sheesh, you got your money, just send the damn thing out!
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

i hate crappy ebay sellers.... this has happened to me too many times. now, i only deal with people with at least 99% feedback. it eliminates alot of people, but i haven't had a problem since.

    i hate those lame excuses.

i had a buyer tell me, "i'm going interstate so i can't deposit money until the 19th" for an item that she bought on the 10th.

please. like they don't have banks interstate in Australia? (or netbank or paypal)

i like the, 'person died', 'i've been sick', 'my computer broke'...

    sigh. ebay.

Wonder if you politely tell them that you thought something had happened and she was unavailable and so you weren't sure the transaction would go thru, so you cancelled out a month later. Since you JUST received the package, you will now go thru with it if you BOTH agree not to leave any negative feedback. Best thing here is to make sure no one leaves any feedback. This may be one of those insincere sellers or greenhorn ones that mess up things until they get serious or leave. Just minimize damages and don't try to punish anyone. It isn't worth it.

Well, I sent her an email saying that I had perfect feedback and I was extremely upset when she's trying to place the "blame" on me for filing with PayPal...you only have 30 days, after all...and I didn't want it to come down to the wire and lose the ability to file a claim because I was "hoping" to get the package. I told her emergency or not, I would assume that where she was, she had some kind of internet access and she should have emailed me letting me know the situation. Not expect to email me after 2 weeks of no communication and then expect me not to be a little leary. I didn't receive the package until the 18-19th...almost a full month later. Besides, she wrote to PayPal saying that she sent the package on the 5th. She sent the package out almost a week later than that (according to the postmark).

She wrote me back saying, oh we got home from my sister's house and my neighbor's, whose kids are good friends of my son, house burned down and 2 of the kids died. So, it's just been really hectic around here. Funny enough, though, when I checked the local papers (I know what town she's from) there was nothing about a home fire with deaths. I hate being lied to and given a sob story when there's really nothing.

Anyways, she left me a positive...but I'm debating on whether or not to leave her any feedback. I won't leave a negative...but, should I leave a neutral and explain that she could improve on her communication...or should I just choke it down and leave a positive?

You have your package... she has her money... she lied... I wouldnt leave anything. I think you should just shake your head and figure lesson learned. Leave it there. No point in adding fuel to the fire with a negative and her service wasnt great.

don't leave her a negative. negatives are for sellers who deliberately rip buyers off. a shipping delay isn't something that someone deserves to get a negative for.

It may be an apparent lie, but you did get your mershandise. Giving her no or neutral feedback is the best solution.

Yeah, I won't give negative feedback...but I wasn't sure if neutral or no feedback was the best way to go. I think I will give her a neutral.

    Thanks, all!!

I am in the same situation. I bought an Ipod for my son on Dec. 27. I could see where the label was cut on Dec 29. By Jan 6, I had not received it. I emailed the seller and she bitchilly replied that it was mailed.

Still no IPOD. Than I requested faxed proof of shipping. No response. Then on Friday, I get a lengthy response on how there was a death in the family, she was ripped off of $8000 for a counterfeit cashiers check, etc. etc.

The bottom line is that it is a business and she did not deliver. She now has a lot of negative feedbacks so stuff is happening and that is not my problem.

BUT, anyone who LIES in their response WILL get a negative feedback from me. Don't put up with bullshit powersellers. She got my money and I do not have my product. That is the bottom line.

Since she gave a positive my advice is to leave a positive and state the facts about the package delay and poor communication. The package did arrive and a positive was left after all. Had she left no feedback my advice would be to lay low and leave no feedback, let it drop off the radar to protect your rating.

I have used E-bay a few times and once someone attempted to scam me for 3k . I am very leary of the whole e-bay deal now mostly because you really are dealing with a bunch of unlicensed people in business . Not trying to take away from the people who are doing a really great job but this world has way too many scammers . There's always someone out there just ready to fuck-up a good thing !

I am in the middle of dealing with an ebay seller issue, as well. I bought a bra that was listed as brand new, but when I received it, it was obviously used. Seller insists that it has never been worn. I looked at the item again, and it is used, has lost it's shape and not wearable. It is a padded bra, and the pads are completely flattened out. The straps are discolored where the elastic is (this happens from frequent laundereing with bleach).

I figure that the seller bought the item from a wholesale lot. Some of those wholesale lots contain used items that customers have returned to the manufacturer, so I am willing to give the seller the benefit of the doubt on that aspect. But I can't use this bra, and I am pissed that I had to pay $15 to dispose of someone else's garbage.

I will try to get the seller to accept a return. Otherwise, I will leave negative feedback.

Venus, did you send her back the money? Since you have the item, I think she deserves the $$. I would leave a neutral.

Scarlett, I did send the money back. I sent it back the day after I received it. I also notified PayPal that the money was re-sent on the same auction and the reasons for it. However, she did send me that "threatening" email...which just totally pissed me off.

Wise_Guy...I don't care that she gave me a positive. I deserved the positive. I did everything right. I sent payment the DAY the auction was over. I sent 2 emails inquiring as to shipping times (at one week and 1 1/2 weeks after I paid for the auction). I didn't file a claim until a week after she sent me an email "excuse" about not sending it sooner. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Even if all else went to hell...I deserved the positive.

Since she did not keep up her end of the bargain and lied to me several times, I am tempted to give a negative, but I've never given a negative and really don't want to. If I leave any FB (and I think I should) I will most likely leave a neutral. I won't give someone a positive just because they gave me a positive. All in all, this seller is a headache. I have the right to be honest about that.

As ebay has gotten so popular since the late 90s when I started using it, a lot of shoddy sellers have come out of the woodwork. I also do a lot less on ebay now. Sad, it was good for awhile.
