    Exclamation Vitamins?

Im confused you guys. Everytime Im working basically i feel as though Im going to pass out. Ive been eating much healthier and taking One A Day for Women, but nothing is getting better.I believe I may be slightly anemic too. Im confused because Ive been told I need more of certain vitamins like Iron and Vitamin C, but my daily vitamin says it has 100% of the recommended dosage for all vitamins. Ive heard horror stories about taking too much Iron too. What should I do to make me feel energized and healthy again? Is there a better vitamin out there? Should I take more individuals?Whats safe? Heeeeeelllllpppppp!!!!!!!!

I know I could be making so much more money if I could just feel good enough. Im barely lasting 3 hours right now. Im feeling weak, dizzy, feverish, etc. Im pretty sure its not flu because it's been like this for a while. I really feel like my body is crying out for something, but not sure what.

Hmmmm....it could be an iron deficiency, or flu, but it could also be something more serious. I would go to a doctor just to be on the safe side. I had similar episodes a few years ago (weak, dizzy, shaky, etc.) and had bloodwork done and found that I had hypoglycemia -low blood sugar. It scared me because I also have a heart murmur, so I thought it might have something to do with that.

It is always best to be safe than sorry, so try to get yourself to the doctor's soon. Let us know how you make out.

    Do you eat at work?
Vitamins are useless unless you combine real food with them.
You should get your blood tested for iron levels. Until then bring something light to work like fruit and wheat-thins.

I've been meaning to post about this. I hate multivitamins. They make my pee bright yellow & make me feel sick. I try to get enough nutrition in my food.

Just quit taking the vitamins if they make you feel weird. Listen to your body. And start eating some vitamin rich greens, like spinach and broccoli, which is a whole lot better.

I dont even know if its the vitamins that are making me feel sick. Ive taken them before and been fine. I was fine before I started dancing, so I think it has something to do with my body needing something extra now that Im more physically active. I just purchased a new multivitamin thats supposed to be geared towards more physically active people. Maybe it'll work. I also am very picky and dont like a lot of fruit and veggies, but I have been trying to stock up on the fruits I do like such as strawberries, peaches, and pineapple.

You should go to a good primary care physician and tell him/her how you feel. They'll do a comprehensive physical exam and draw a few labs including blood counts, electrolytes, and thyroid panel.

You could have mononucleosis, which sucks but happens.

You could also be low on potassium- your muscles will cramp if you don't have enough potassium.....banannas are a good source for this, or you can take a pill....

Ugh......... mono DOES suck...... badly. Potassium is less likely a concern. Healthy kidneys do a great job of regulating potassium and it is exchanged between intracellular and extracellular spaces based on insulin levels and other regulatory pathways.

^ Uh doc, so are you saying my kidneys are out to town because my muscles get crampy when I work out more?

PS Many people have mono & never know it because the symptoms & duration of illness vary from person to person.

Nah....... I'm sure your kidneys are just fine. Muscle cramps from exercise are only slightly related to potassium levels.

Take your vitamins with food. Your body has to be able to absorb the vitamins in order for them to help, and it is easiest for the vitamins to be absorbed if you have some food in your stomach- otherwise they can just pass right out through your urine.

The only way you can know that is to go get blood work done and see.

Does not mean a thing. It just means it's the RDA for vitamins, which in most cases is low and far from optimal for most people.

Specific to fitness ands health of dancers, an interview I did regarding what dancers can do to stay fit, I posted this on the StripperWEb site here:

Then make an appt. with a doc and rule out any possible health issues, then take it from there by looking at your nutrition, sleep patterns, etc.

Well, I got the vitamin, but honestly after researching it, I might very well have mono. Bleh.

Corsica - if you are still feeling really sick in a few days, go to the ER. They can't turn you away, and you won't need to have $$$ right away. Several years ago I didn't have health insurance and had a really bad earache. It didn't go away and just kept getting worse. I went to the ER and found out I had a staph infection in my ear! Anyway, I did get treatment and meds, and a bill about a month later, which I paid off over the course of about 3 months. My health was worth the debt and subsequent nasty-grams I received following my ER visit. Anyway, don't wait too long if you don't feel good. It's not worth the risk if you are seriously ill or have something like diabetes which can be bad if left untreated.

Im just reluctant to go to the ER nowadays, last year I had to go so many times....and my symptoms now are so vague I could end up having them tell me they arent sure whats wrong and Ill still be in the same situation.
