Default bad 1st club experience last nite

ok, i worked my 1st night in a club last night. 1st of all, doing private parties for so long, im not used to staying in heels for 9 hours straight. so basically, my shift was 7 pm till 4 am. i wore boots to keep my money in, which killed my feet. my legs were sooooo sore by the end of the night, i was miserable. am i the only one that had a bad night the 1st time at a club? i was also very very sleepy by the end of the night too. any pointers about how to get over these issues? i mean, my heels werent even that high. they werent even platforms. they were like 3-4 inches. but i could barely walk b/c of my feet and legs. now im dreading going back.

It comes with time. The first thing though... having just a heel and no platform on the toe was part of the problem... the platform helps make it so your foot isnt on as much of an angle... your ankles were stressing.
The rest of it you just get used to. Carry a small hand purse to keep your money in. You need to adjust your sleeping pattern so you can stay up all night and feel fresh. Drink a red bull if you must. And set a pace for yourself till you get used to all of it.
Congrats on the first night. It will get better

advil liquigels are great for foot pain.... also, when i posted a similar thread, the girls suggested arnica gel, soaking them in hot water with epsom salts, and elevating the feet. from my feet pain experience (waitressing), those work great. good luck hon! i'm sure you'll start feeling better soon after your body gets more used to it.

Dayum but that's a long shift!
Shoes with platforms = good for clubs.

Alternating hot and cold foot soaks may help with the joint pain. It may also help to keep a steady dose of anti-inflammatories in your system (fun fact: inflammation is a response to tissue damage, but it also can cause tissue damage itself!); I'm a big fan of naproxen sodium, a.k.a. Aleve because it stays in the system for ~8 hours (all night, whoo!).

And yes, my hustle sucked my first few nights. Since you've done private parties, you'll probably pick it up faster than I did. Oh, and I don't know about your club, but most places don't mind if you spend some time just sitting next to customers and chatting them up; that absolutely saves my feet most nights.

Drinking lots and lots of water helps me stay awake, plus a caffeinated drink about 4-6 hours before the end of my shift (so I can still sleep when I get home). Drinking alcohol makes me really sleepy, so I do my best to avoid it.

I'm sorry if I sound petty - but you class that as a bad experience??

I was expecting to hear about nasty men in booths, mean dancers/staff, falling flat on your face, or something terrible, distressing or embarrassing! Anyway, each to their own.

Sore feet: Chloe's right, platforms do help. If you actually measure the distance between the heel and the ball of the foot, it's not actually that high and they can be comfy. You may just have to get used to the heel. Also, make sure that the material surrounding your foot is not too tight (e.g. if you have broad feet, get platforms for your shape if possible; no point squeezing into narrow shoes) and get cushions/gel pads inside your platforms for extra comfort.

If you're tired, you could try Pro Plus (not sure if they sell 'em in the states, but they're caffeine tablets you get in UK, I used to take them) or you can drink Red Bull or some other energy drink to keep you awake. If need be, take small breaks in the changing room during your shift and bring food (apples, believe it or not, should help to keep you alert).

Do make sure that you eat well at home, are getting enough sleep and drinking water. Exercise helps with the energy levels too, so a quick burst in the gym/jog outside/exercise vid a few times a week will make a difference. Things WILL improve, but don't give up girl!

No, you don't sound Petty Mal, I was thinking the same thing. Hell a first bad night is if you lose your purse, or you make $2, or some guy trys to grope you. Getting tired feet just comes with the territory.

I would suggest buying platforms. They are much less "harsh" on the feet and joints than just regular old 3-4in stillettos.

OMG I have two words about the shoes: fuck stilettos!! They do crazy things to your body...things you never want to experience. Platforms are the only way to go.

Being drunk actually makes me a more productive dancer. I'm more comfortable, therefore I'm having more fun. Even better is a few painkillers mixed in. But I have to have more than two drinks, otherwise I will fall asleep if I sit for too long.

I start the night off with some food and tea, then after an hour or two, I have a couple drinks. Works well for me. Some girls can't do this though, so it may not be the best route for you to go.
My suggestion is drink lots of water, find something fun or interesting in each guy you talk to and don't sit for too long. Your feet will get used to it.

p.s. - (edit) - Energy drinks like Red Bull and Monster only make you tired after a couple hours. Eventually your body will stop 'speeding out' and you'll crash and feel exhausted.

    Terrible advice.

If you rely on alcohol to be able to do your job well, then you are obviously in the wrong job. Dancers who begin to rely on alcohol for working, especially if they are full time dancers, will become alcoholics. Alcohol will lower your inhibitions and yes, it can make you confident but will leave you vulnerable and you DO NOT want to be in such a state in an SC. Drinking to get drunk at work all the time will also age you - do you want to look old when you're supposed to be looking like a goddess? Also, mixing with painkillers when at work is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

I am not saying that you cannot drink at work but to rely on being inebriated to do your job is just ludicrous.

Agreed that caffeine only will work for a short time, however, it is good as a quick pick me up and a helluva lot better than guzzling booze. It is not a replacement for eating well, sleeping well and drinking lots of water, but a resort if you feel knackered on any given shift.
