I have been reading The Psychology of Selling. I came across the section on prospecting and breaking preoccupation. He suggested developing an opening statement that will get his complete attention since we only have about 30 seconds to do that. Since the statement should be aimed at the result or benefit that he will receive, while not mentioning the product itself, how will this translate into our line of work? We are essentially selling ourselves, our time, so how can we peak interest if we can't prove how good of a dancer or entertainer we are unless we take our clothes off?
Do you have any opening statements that would work? I have been thinking about it, and I can't come up with anything that will lead to some kind of close.
