As some of you guys know we will be moving soon. Due to the decline of sane people in this current neighborhood, and the incident with my daughter at her school by her principal (I'll post a thread later in more detail), we decided to move at the end of Nov.
We delayed the move till after the holidays and wanted to be in a new place by now, but... We couldn't find anything we liked within the right price range, until now.
We are wanting to rent again, so if something goes wrong we just make a phone call.
So I was looking in Sundays paper (last week) and found a listing. I went Saturday and looked at it. It was a wreck, lol. The last renters were evicted and trashed the place when they were forced to leave. i would say at least 75-85% of their stuff is still there. I spoke to the land lord about it, and he can't move anything till the 25th. Something about the actual paperwork with the eviction and so forth. It should be cleaned and ready to move into on the 28th. (He has 2 crews of workers to do repairs and clean-up).
It's a 5 bedroom, so the listing says but I say 3 beds, with an extra living room upstairs and a small study/office downstairs. Two story with a partially finished 1/2 basement, and two baths with 2 clawfoot antique tubs.
He is also very cool about us painting, and adding drywall (removing the panneling is some rooms), and other cosmetic things we choose to do. He will not pay for paint, but will pay for or take off the rent other thing, like drywall, or celing fans, and such.
Guys, I need tons of positive thoughts. I really like this house. even through all the junk in it now, I can so see it's potential, and it big enough for us!!! It's 2040sq foot plus the basement for extra junk.
I really hope we get it, it would be perfect for us. The upstairs is 4 rooms and almost 1000 sq foot alone, lol. A bedroom on either end and a main great room in the center plus a bathroom. Downstairs is another bedroom, study, living room, dining room, bath, and kitchen.
It's on a corner lot with a partial fence (he said if we wanna finish the fence he'll pay us for that too) and a decent sizeed backyard for the kiddo.
Very quiet neighborhood (mostly older and elderly people), and a MAJOR bonus? It's exactly 6 mins from work!!!!
I did the math yesterday, and we will be able to pay the rent every month on what we will save in gas for the truck, lol! I drive round trip 4 to 5 days a week, and it's a 1hour and 15-30 min trip total. With this house I will be able to save gas money, miles and wear on the truck, and spend more time with the family.
I also talked to the landlord, and he says after a year we will also have the option to buy if we wish. He wants to test us on our ability to pay and see if we are any problem or not; which I understand.
I told him if and when we did move in, I would pay for Feb, and not move in till March, so we could paint, and do cosmetics gradually, and that would give us plenty of time to get everything moved in at a better pace. And so we wouldn't have to do it all helter skelter like, and finally et moved in and find the salad tongs in the bathroom stuff, lol. He was really cool about it, and said that was really fine with him.
So please, think positive for us. We really want that house. There would be plenty of room for a smallish SW get to gether in the summer!!......
