I don't even know if this goes here, but my BF said I should "trademark" my dancing name/performer name. Does that make sense, and if so how do you do it? Thanks!!

kinda seems pointless... what if your stage name was 'brandy'?
what would be the benefit to you in doing so?

LOL I don't know either. He just said "If I was serious I should think about doing it."
I really have no clue, but it sounded like something worth investigating. Apparently not. He said Tyra Banks sued Tyra Banxxx for defamation because of that, but I highly doubt there are any Kirah Honey's out there. It's a moot point, I suppose.

I was thinking something similiar with "GoldCoastGirl" however it isn't worth it for me right now. I'm assuming it is only worth while if you have built up your 'brand' (in my case, "GoldCoastGirl") to a point where it would be worth it.
Right now, I'm working on having it as a registered business name for the time being.

Yeah, sounds like what I'm going to be doing...so it's best to wait. Thanks!

i bet tyra banxxx does DVDA or something. i'd probably sue over that if i was the real TB.
i think your brands will survive for the time being.
in the meantime - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

from a real world standpoint, there would be major 'enforcement' problems unless you are an internationally recognized feature or something similar. There are 10,000 dancers out there already working under the stage name of 'Brandy' or 'Tyra' or every other name.

You could look into a DBA in your county for a filing fee. Sole-propreitorship. Maybe the county would allow you exclusive rights. Anything else you do would only be enforced by your own efforts and at your expense. Next time your BF suggests something legal, ask him to get his own paid legal advice first.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.
NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Tyra Banks did not sue Tyra Banxxx because she agreed to go on her show.
Which was BS because apparently Tyra Banxxx really didn't want to get out of porn, and shed a poor light on the industry and now can't get any work because of what she said on the real Tyra Banks' show.
I have a friend that is a dj that got a trademark on his name but he travels all over and plays and produces music and didn't want other dj's using his name and having people think it's him (which has happened). I don't see how it would be an issue with a dancer.
