    Default Vegan/Veggie Beauty Solutions?

It's occured to me that if I won't eat something, it doesn't make sense to shmear it all over my face. Does anybody have any experience in this area?

GNC, Burt's Bees & Kiss My Face sell health & beauty products that have no animal byproducts. In fact, some of the best oils & supplements are vegetable (olive oil, flax seed, coconut oil.)
You can also use fruits & other foodstuffs as beauty treatment products, BUT sensitive skin might burn from fruit acids (AHAs) so be warned.
I *think* Aveda salons cater to vegan clients, but you'd have to check for your area.

with the exception of sunscreen, you can have all the beauty treatments you want from your kitchen. sugar/salt/cornmeal/wheat bran/baking soda to scrub (some use oatmeal too), oil method for cleansing (castor/olive oil, warm water, washcloth, which exfoliates as well), oils for moisture, honey, milk, yogurt, lemon juice, tomato, strawberry, cucumber, egg whites for firming, banana, carrot - all are great masks... herbal steaming; plain green clay (people actually take this internally too as a detoxifier) mixed with apple cider vinegar is a good mask...

pm me if you want, i know tons more and have a lot of recipes, since a few years ago there used to be an awesome site with all the ancient secrets and natural beauty stuff, and it's gone, but back then i printed everything out.

MAC brand makeup is vegan friendly, as far as i know, and a lot of (if not all) Got2Be hairproducts aren't tested on animals. i think Jane might also be a vegan friendly makeup company, but i'm not certain.

Yeah, you should be able to get a full list of vegan and cruelty free products from one of the animal rights groups or the Vegan Society - they're in England but may be able to put you in touch with a group closer to home if you have trouble finding one.

Aussies might wanna check this one out btw

Aside from make-up and hair colour I try to steer clear of putting anything much on my skin. I don't think skin was meant to have stuff plastered on it all the time and I am skeptical about the benefits of skin care products. Coconut Oil or ozonated olive oil is fab if you need a moisturiser. That's about all I use, I belong to the beauty school of sheer neglect, but it seems to have worked for me anyway as i don't look my age (-:

Aveda products are vegan and contain no petrolium products. Go to aveada.com

From the national Anti-vivisection society website:

Determining whether a company or product is or is not tested on animals is easy! Simply type in the name of the company or product in the search bar and press Search.

NAVS has created this simple process to help you make decisions on what products to purchase. By adopting a cruelty free lifestyle, one that chooses respect for animals when selecting products, you are sending a powerful message to companies that you won't support an industry that perpetuates animal suffering.
    The serach engine is here:

The American anit-vivisection society has a neat little brochure you can carry to the store which lists all the companies that test and do not test on animlas. You can get it here:
    http://www.aavs.org/laboratories02.html

The brochure is more comprehensive than the search engie I listed above. Jsut tested the engine.
