    Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

I am posting this on behalf of someone else (I can promise you that I have not had sex enough with the Fireman to 'suffer' from this or have this 'problem' come up just yet)

She has a UTI due to her partner becoming frisky with her toys. He accidentially (both him and her were lost in the moment/passion) used her anal vibe which had been in her anus in her pussy along with her usual vibe (just a small basic one). No sex for her

Ok seriously... besides going to the Doc for antibiotics (which I remember reading on the 'net might not work).. is there anything else she can do?

I told her to drink plenty of Cranberry juice as I remember reading up about how the cranberry juice can help with the PH in the bowel or something thereofore help 'cure' (as such) UTI because it is basically just bacteria... so the sooner she can flush this bacteria out of her system the better.. yes?

    Any is appreciated

She can take an over the counter drug called AZO Standard. It's a pill that will ONLY relieve her symptoms. Her pee will turn bright orange with this stuff, don't freak out.

She is going to have to find an antibiotic as a UTI is a bacterial infection.

The cranberry juice will help to flush it out but she really should think about seeing a doctor so she can get rid of it completely.

Instead of the cranberry juice, she's better off with a well made extract which has much higher levels of the compounds that help prevent UTIs without all the sugar and calories. The Life Extension Foundation makes a good extract here:

Drink a ton of cranberry juice (like a gallon a day) and eat raw garlic (which is an antibiotic). If it's a new infection, that should clear it up in a few days. She should not take the medication that blocks the symptoms - then how will she know if it's getting better or worse? I (personally) wouldn't take antibiotics unless it was very neccessary, which in the case of a UTI I (personally) don't think it is.

I always find an epsom salt bath works to relieve the cramping, as well as cranberry supplements and as much water as you can stand. And I agree, garlic is a cure-all. Good for yeast infections too.

Definitely Cranberry juice! Tell her to drink it like it's going out of style. She can also pick up a Z-Pack (Zithromax). My Mother-In-Law used to hook me up with that stuff when we were in RI. It'll kill anything bad that's going through your system.

she must have antibiotics. uti's are serious infections, and if left untreated, can spread to the bladder and kidneys, causing damage. and they are not always caused by sex- a variety of other factors can cause uti's, including poor hygiene, thong underwear, tight pants, hanging around in wet bathing suits, and certain medications.

You do not always need antibiotics to cure a UTI. In extreme cases, you do. I've had enough to know. I'm a home treater anyway, and there was only once that I needed medical care--I was pregnant.

GCG, this is all about home remedies, and also gives you the warning signs to watch out for (when medical treatment is absolutely necessary).

Some of the stuff you guys have recommended is great for Americans, however she is an Aussie just like me.

Okay... well.. I know I'm prepared now if I ever 'suffer' from a UTI! Wow.. thanks for the link Rhi as that is very helpful.

She isn't 'big' on antibiotics too and realises (she's done some reading on UTI as well) that the infection, right now, is not that bad. She's drinking the cranberry juice... I might tell her to try to get some cranberry tablets and have them instead.. and drink a glass of cranberry juice every hour as well as have some in a 'water bottle' so she can constantly sip it during the day.

I found the following to be interesting:
Nix other offenders. Whether you have a simple irritation or an infected urinary tract, the last thing that you need are known bladder irritants. The most notorious bladder irritants are citrus, tomatoes, aged cheeses, chocolate, spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol and nicotine, says Dr. Whitmore.

For certain individuals, anything carbonated--especially beer or soda--may irritate your bladder and make you go more frequently or urgently, says Kallhoff.

Vitamin C supplements may also be a problem, says Dr. Brubaker.
She doesn't smoke... might have to tell her that she can't have caffiene temporarily (loves her iced coffee drinks right now).. plus cut down on the sodas ("soft drinks" as they are called here in Aust.).

She'll be my little experiment.. I'll tell her about the Baking Soda suggestion as well. I will see via her how all this goes.

Ditto that they don't have to be sexually transmitted. I used to get them all the time until I figured out they were being caused by floating tampon strings - the string would pick up bacteria at the back, then move up to the front and deliver all that bacteria where it didn't belong. Keep tampon strings tucked tightly at the back.

I do think she should look at what else might be causing them, as the activities you mentioned wouldn't do it. That's a good way to get an e. coli infection in the vagina, but it wouldn't cause a UTI. Either something else caused it, or he tried a little clit stimulus with the dirty vibe and rubbed all that bacteria on her urethra. Lovely.

I'm taking her word for it that it's a UTI. I wasn't.. ahem.. present when the 'infection' might have taken place... she thinks it does have something to do with the whole anal vibe being used to DP her vag without it being washed after it was used a little earlier anally. That's what she has said to me. Regardless, she's going to be a stinker temporarily coz of the garlic ... and drinking plenty of water and cranberry juice.

She just did the baking soda thing (from Rhi's link)... she told me she hated it yet will do whatever it takes to be able to have sex again LOL!!

She will go with the antibiotics if all this doesn't clear it up (or be of some assistance) within 48 hours.

Colloidal Silver - the cheapest brand to buy locally is Way to Life, it's about $13 a bottle from a health food store, some chemists stock it too. I just read about someone getting rid of a UTI here or you can google colloidal silver + UTI to see if there are alternative doses. Oh, it's in the "Raw Chicken" thread which may be on page 2 or 3 if not the first one. It's a very pro homeopathy group btw so there is some opposition to using CS as you will see. (-:

Oh yeah, I meant to add - curezone.com colloidal silver forum is handy for info. They probably have other forums which relate too (-:

colloidal silver, when used in high doses, can cause a strange form of skin pigmentation known as argyria that will actually turn you blue.....

    http://www.quackwatch.org/01Quackery.../silverad.html

if you wish to treat it herbally, have her use cranberry juice or fresh cranberries (the cranberry pills seem to be less effective, probably because some herbal supplement manufacturers are less than ethical), drink large amounts of clear fluids, and take willow bark for the pain. other remedies are bilberry tincture, tea tree oil applied to the urinary meatus (sometimes causes further inflammation, so be careful), and an antiseptic wash of the vulva with particular attention paid to the urinary meatus using tea made of fresh white sage leaves. have her try to abstain from genital contact, which can further inflame the area, and wash daily with cold water. also tell her to avoid all underwear if possible, but at the very least, use cotton briefs and skirts. but i strongly urge you to advise her to see a doctor.

Just an update - she had the baking soda water ( ) as well as a cup of water every hour (approx) as well as a 'flask' of cranberry juice (diluted) to sip on whilst she does whatever she's doing throughout the day.... and the good news is that she feels much better. She can pee without it hurting too much. At this rate, she feels she will be okay within 48 hours if she keeps it up. She's also avoiding tomato, caffiene, chocolate for the time being (good girl! LOL).

She's also going to have more of the baking soda water every morning til the infection clears. to her! Yay! It's working!

She doesn't want to go to the Doctor if she can help it. She isn't a big 'fan' of antibiotics.. besides.. she said it seemed to be going away... it has been 10 hours since she started this self-prescribed 'treatment'.

LOL Glad to hear it's getting better for her, GCG. The baking soda thing does seem pretty vile, but if it works it's all worth it. As long as she keeps up what she's doing, she'll be over it in no time. Woot.

Thumbs up How to Get Rid of UTi w/out antibiotics

Another update (it's after 10am next day - 24 hours after the self-prescribed treatment) - W00t! She wants me to everyone for their assistance... she's pretty much over it. Here is what she did so that other people who have UTI can benefit....

Have a cup (or 8 oz for you Americans) of water mixed with half teaspoon of Baking Soda in the morning, at lunch and just before you go to bed. It's foul yet works.

Have a cup of water (whether you are thirsty or not) every hour for the next 8 hours.

Have a one litre water bottle mixed with a third of cranberry juice to have through-out the day. Re-fill when empty.

When you go to the toilet.. wipe front to back !!!

Avoid tomato, caffiene, chocolate and old cheeses.

If you don't notice the UTI clearing up within 48 hours of doing this self-prescribed treatment, please do see a doctor to be prescribed antibiotics.

You might want to read up more on that. I suggest curezones Colloidal Silver forum for some real facts. It's highly unlikely that anyones going to have problems using it to treat a UTI. To turn blue you need to take alot of "wrongly" made colloidal silver regularly over a long period. A fair amount of stuff on quackwatch is a crock - I say that as I have used myself as a guinea pig for some of it to find my own results (-:

Lets just disagree on that then. There are so few cases or Argyria anyway - much, much less than side effects from any orthodax medication. When it comes to quackwatch herbalists and colloidal silver are in the same boat. (-:

that's so true, aussiepunkshocker.... and argyria does only occur in people who have taken high doses for a long period of time. i suppose my problem is that i have very little trust in any medicine that i don't grow myself. but that's more paranoia than science.

Lol - I am simular but it's not paranoia! :-D

I make my own colloidal silver. I've had silver toxicity testing (a LISTEN test) and not even registered and silver levels so for the time being I am not worried about it. I don't think there are any cases of agyria when the colloidal silver has been made with properly distilled water. There are some die hard people over at curezone though who have been drinking gallons of the stuff daily for years, I think to test this - I'm not really sure, lol!
