    .. yourself Aerial Stripping
Haha, i saw this and wondered.. could this really be exotic?
I think it would be hard as hell to perform in this way. And legal? Haha.
    Has anyone heard of this

Yeah, I saw this at a circus with my kid. First thing I thought of was, "Wonder if they can put one of those over a stage!"

We had a showgirl competition of 5 of our club dancers last night and one girl used a trapeze--the thing with 2 strigs and a bar that hangs from the ceiling. So I think we could do domething like this--it would be awesome!

There used to be a stripper who entered all the competitions by the name of Lena here in Australia who would do this as part of her show. She was great! I don't have to imagine.. I've seen it done.. and done well too

It amazes me that not many dancers learn this skill as it is quite entertaining/spectacular to watch if done properly.

Then again, Lena was flexible and a pole monkey to boot LOL!

Umm, yea, I have nowhere NEAR enough muscle to lift my fat @$$ off the ground to do that. It is cool though, and if you want to get a good laugh, you're more than welcome to come watch me try it.

I wonder what type of fabric it is? I bet I could make those pretty easily... Hmm, I'm gonna have to go ask my designer guy what would be the best types of fabric for that. It couldn't be too slick and it couldn't stretch. It would be super easy to put something like that up in your house too.

Anyone know if there is a "name" for these?

My first thought was that would rock for a competitions. Figure it could not be harder then some of the things I have seen dancers do with poles.

It looks like silk, which is pretty strong. I've seen this done with thick rope though, by a woman in a circus show on TV--she was pretty funny about it. There'd be a guy on the ground swinging the rope so she'd spin and she'd flip herself upside down and then drop lipstick, her cellphone, and change to be funny--like she was an amateur even though she did some pretty fancy moves.

I think it's would be awesome to see more of this in SC for those dancers who wish to expand their dancing skills.

I'd be very careful about trying to make your own ribbons or ropes for home use though. At the very least, try and look up the materials and props used by the professionals that work with them.

I'm betting that most circus schools (yes there are such things) would teach classes on different specialties without having to go through a whole program. These schools I guess are pretty hard to find but would be a great way to learn this kind of performance art.

I'm just worried about someone trying this completely on their own without any guidance. This apparatus seems to have a much bigger potential for injuries so I'd hate to read about someone hurting themselves trying it out on their own.

For curiosity's sake, I'll look up the info that the school in my area gives on the subject and report back.

I'd love to give this a try once I'm in better shape, even if only for my personal amusement. Besides, I've always wanted to look into learning how to ride a unicycle, lol!

^^haha, I used to nanny for a 10 yr old girl who was taught the unicycle in gym class...i tried it..but failed, miserably! I about broke my neck and and I "jumped" too hard on the seat and rammed my pelvis..owweee!

As for making my own, I'm not too worried. hey, if I fell, it'd only be a few feet since my ceilings aren't that high. I be worried though if someone were to get on it and not be careful and get it wrapped around their neck.

Let us know what you find out from that school!

Club Paradise in Vegas has a feature show with their dance troupe accompanied by a dancer who does this routine on the silk while they dance below her, to very sexy music, topless. Its a really gorgeous, VERY Vegas-ey show.
