    Default Phoenix extras?

I am not looking for extras, but I am writing a novel in which one of the characters is a dancer in a "fictional" Phoenix club. I've been around enough dancers to have some idea what I'm talking about, but I'm sketching out a scene where her friend gets involved in doing some extras (kind of like the whole Brandy Hungerford/Rick Chance situation) and I wanted to be somewhat accurate.

What would be considered typical extras in a Phoenix club and would they happen in or out of the club?

You hear stories of bj's and other things in backrooms in Vegas, but I can't really see how that would happen in Phoenix, so just wondering how far things go to make the story more realistic.

Thanks in advance for any help.

All extras would be the typical extra's, but if your novel is writing extras in as the explicit sexual acts limited to some form of sex as an action, it will make for quite the boring read...be creative and think this:

If it breaks club rules, it's an extra.

    Keep your readers in suspense!

    Why does accuracy matter?
"Peter, did you take Stewie to a strip-club? He smells like sweat and fear." - Lois and Stewie (Family Guy) ... "Through early morning fog I see, Visions of the things to be, The pains that are withheld for me, I realize and I can see..."

I suppose they really don't, but I didn't want to put a scene in a Phoenix club that wouldn't really happen and considering I'm one of those shy guys who keeps his hands to himself and doesn't try anything, I wasn't sure how far things go here with some of the girls or custies.

Yeah, that would be terrible for a novelist to make things up.

Judging from what I've seen/heard in my club, I'd say the most that goes on inside the club is kissing, feeding, maybe fingering and penis rubbing with pants still on. I can't see how someone could really get away with more than that there - it's just too open.

Although the most common "extras" there would be ass-grabbing and crotch grinding.

Extras? Oooh yeah baby! Didn't you know, if you buy us champagne we'll screw to your hearts content. Sorry, I'm a bit too skeptical to answer your question seriously. Good luck with the writing.

What Bridgette said is about right, but damn bradford why aren't you out doing the research yourself???

Did Brandy do extras in the club? Didn't that have to do with outside the club meetings? Or is that what you're referring to? I got dances from her several times BTW, she was good at her job, but I got no extras from her.

I also agree with Ms. B. Most of the Phoenix clubs simply don't have the type of privacy required to really take willy out to play.

Is your novel actually set in Phoenix? If not, make the location Houston, then any extras you can dream up will be accurate.

I'm with Lyssa Lynn on this one - unfortunately I don't think you'll ever be able to get a customer or dancer to answer this one completely.

For your novel, just increase your budget for research to a $50,000. If you don't feel comfortable and are too shy. Hey man, bring the dough and I'll let you be my wing man.

Somehow, I don't think a novel involving a stripper is going to get good play on Oprah, unless you can play up the nice girl who gets into stripping and some sleazy horndog club owner turns her into a coke snorting, conniving, home wrecker who comes across a psycho customer and takes merciless glee in draining him of his life savings. Eventually he finds out that he's not getting any and snaps, leading him to take her to a roach motel, cut her into six pieces and throw her body parts over a bridge.

Make sure the gals fat ugly born-again Christian mother is on the lookout for her, and that the novel ends with mommy plugging the strip club owner with her Ladysmith (twice in the chest, once in the head, and three more times in the groin). Then have she and her church group burn the strip club to the ground while singing "I'll Fly Away". We want the movie version to be accurate when it comes out on Lifetime.

OK - so apparently none of you saw the whole James Frey "A Million Little Pieces" situation on Oprah and got my joke

Bridgette - thanks for the reasoned response. That's all I needed to know.

As to the rest of you - why am I not doing the research myself. I don't know, maybe it's because I don't drink anymore, I'm married with a 2-year-old and another on the way and I really don't go to strip clubs anymore. It's something I did when I was single and I figure I have enough experience to use it in my attempt to write a novel - doesn't mean I need to start wasting my money again.

FWIW - I will say this website is fun, but it does make you realize just how much of a hustle the clubs really are. I can look back and see how some girls worked me in the past - not that I regret it, but once you realize that, why would I want to go back?

    Thanks everyone for your help.

A Resounding thank you after recovering from coffee through the nose...to Doc! Though for e/affect I think the first shots go to the groin then two to the chest then one to the head. Also not to jump on the band wagon but for the sake of securing that HIGH COncept gig we really need to involve some conspiracy and blame the president issues...also AFTER the club owner is left for dead the demonic or alien possessing TRULY evil character emerges from the corpse...!! O.k. sorry I couldn't help it!!

Wouldn't it be funny if you chose, instead, for setting Scottsville Az and the gal's chief customer was a lawyer named 'Scott Burgermeister'? Who, in the outside world, was selling legal consulting to communities that wanted to outlaw sexually oriented businesses.

    j/k
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
