Default The Truth about The VIP Room is that...

Men who dont feell comfotable talking to there wives or there shrink go to VIP rooms for consoling to get things off the chest. Perhaps thats why so many strippers in college are psch majors. I hope I have the right forum..So do you think that strippers are providing a valuble mental health service? I mean when you are naked you have nothing to hide?

I'm a psych major, and I don't think of talking to the custys at work as counseling or helping them. They may talk about their problems, but in order to help someone, they can't be under the influence of any kind of drugs or alcohol. I can give them advice, but is it really going to help them or influence their life in any way? probably not.

I have alot to hide such as my social security number, my real name, where I live, my number, my real thoughts on you, and much much more. We listen b/c we get paid to listen or dance which ever way he wants it - hes spending money. Hes happy spending hes money on me the way he wants to and thats fine with me. I listen till he runs out of it.

Curious you are a female or male?

When I went to therapy I did know my psychologist's real name (I think) but I did not know any of the other things you list.... I paid the psychologist to listen to me talk... if the money had run out the therapy would have been over.

Therefore, I don't really get your point.... in what way would knowing your social security number affect the therapeutic aspects of opening up to you emotionally?

It asked if I have anything to hide...I listed what I have to hide. At one point in the converstion most likely they are going to ask you out to talk some more or wtvr. Its not just a therapy session; they think you really like listening to them. Of course you will have to turn them down esp. after hearing all their drama.

A real therapist can tell you that you have issues and you need more help. Strippers otoh could tell them that but that might reveal what I really think of them and would end the money. Overall, its still a fantasy.

I do feel like a shrink. I mostly talk to custies in the V.I.P. I'll talk and dance or talk then dance. I'd much rather get paid to sit on my ass and have a conversation. Rather than dance for them. The easier the better.

I agree with Madison to a certain extent. However, I also beleive that just being very fully with a person can be very therapeutic (in a Rogerian way).

That said, most of my customers are just looking for a pretty girl to rub her body on his penis through his pants. I probably get more conversation/cuddling guys than most people think, but that still isn't very many.

Well, if this is a serious thread--which is questionable in my mind--the person getting naked, and therefore having theoretically nothing to hide, would be the customer.

Whether or not this would be therapeutically helpful or not is an interesting question.

The shrink usually doesn't reveal much of themself, that I know of, during the treatment process. At least in traditional therapy, that is. Can you imagine Sigmund Freud in a thong? OK, let's not...

Depends on the shrink, Djoser. Shrinks of the feminist school of thought, for example, believe in a good helping of self disclosure. OTOH, how much do strippers really reveal of themselves?

I've not spent gobs of time in VIP rooms, but most of of the time I did spend was either small talk, dirty talk or all dancing.

But, OTOH if the customer is going to a strip club as an escape from some kind of stress, I guess it could be as thearaputic as Yoga or message or whirlpool therapy or any other way that we a humans relieve stress.

I don't see visiting the VIP room as a way to resolve serious personality issues or phobias or mental illnesses.

When in VIP, I usually just dance, or else engage in small talk. When I do have a custy who is venting, I listen, and attempt to give advice, but they're usually too drunk and caught up in their problem to hear what I'm saying. That's fine. I still listen anyway, at least until the dance is over.

I don't think that's why a lot of dancers are psych majors.. a lot of *people* are psych majors. Why? It's universal. Psych can be applied to basically any profession. Come to think about it, I have yet to meet another dancer who is a psych major. I usually run into business majors... mm, whatever

Well maybe it should be the men who are naked and the women who are fully dressed. In NY there are laws agaist nude dancing and beer in the same place.
My experance with shrinks is that a number of them really dont care either and offer no advice but just listin. The problem with our post industrail age is that Traditional manual labor or Buisness man with briefcase who is a company man for life are going to the wayside. The status quo of what it means to be a man is being taken away from them. They need a mommy for a shoulder to cry on. We are in the era of the dominate female.

I can see how it might be therapeutic for some guys. I'm one of those people that strangers like confessing their secrets/problems to. I don't know why.

I had a guy getting a bunch of pd's with me the other night and he kept trying to talk about the stresses of the divorce he's going through. I finally told him he should just relax, enjoy his dances and try not to think about that stuff for a little bit. He thanked me for reminding him and seemed to have a better time after that.

I'd say what customers are getting from talking to a stripper is more like a pedicure than a therapy session. They feel pampered and cared for, and feel better about themselves for a little while. Nothing wrong with that. But pedicures don't provide long-term solutions for serious life dilemmas.

I like talking to strippers. I like VIP rooms. When I'm with a naked stripper in a VIP room the last thing I want to do is talk about my problems. Conversation time for me is "everybody dressed" time.

While it is sometimes easier to bare your soul to a semi stranger it's important to remember that the money exchanged in a stripper/customer relationship is not for
psychotherapy, it's for dances. If she is listening to your bable before the dances it's most likely that you are being tolerated because you have a spending track record. As far as babling about your problems while the woman is naked my first thought would be that you need to find a better way to spend your money.

I beleive you meant to say the era of the dominant female but I don't really see any truth or relevance to that.

Your trying to equate some sort of presumed sociological occurance with what a stripper does for a living-get you to spend your money on her. Don't make it more than it is. Just enjoy the ladies and don't worry too much about why.

Wow, dude, don't emasculate yourself because women are no longer treated like chattel and are allowed to do all the jobs traditionally held by men.

If you feel like women are controling you with sex, then you need to get a handle on your sex drive. Just like some people can be controled with drugs or money, sex can be just as powerful a tool on those who can't control their urges for such things.

This society female dominated? Not hardly. Can you name one female CEO of a fortune 500 company? I can... Martha Stewart... And the boys she was playing hard ball with got her thrown into prison for a relatively minor thing. Do you think she would have given up the $40,000.00 if she knew she would be risking prison time? You bet she would have, that lady is extremely wealthy. She encroached into the "men's only" club and beat them at their game. They got back.

So if you think women are dominating this society, then you are mistaken. All of the most wealthy and powerful people in the US are men.

I live in a Rust Belt city where a man could get by working in a steel mill or a auto factory. Buisness men could get in the office with a 2 year degree and did not have to know how to type...Secratarys did that...Now the same man has to contend with trying to get help from "Non Profits" where the female excutive director makes in excess of 50,000 or more a year. Men were defined by what they did in being a good breadwinner. How do men define themselves now?
    They are obsolete cavemen....

It sounds like you are relating a personal story here. You've obviosly got issues. Don't assume that the rest of us do.

trainfinder, can you please come to philly and be my customer? i would love to charge you an hourly rate in the champagne court to discuss what defines men these days. in fact, if you were to keep a weekly appointment, we could during this time discuss whatever else has been on your mind. it'll run you a lot more than a therapist, but did i mention that drinks are included in the champagne room fee?

Does trainfinder22 really want to know the truth about the VIP Room? I doubt it and the only thing "valuable" about my lapdance in VIP is Me. Not to mention that I'm not providing a "valuable mental health service" to custys in the VIP Room @ $15 a song. Who works that cheap in the mental health industry?

And as far as "not having anything to hide since we're already naked"...
Nudity is just that, take it for what it is. It's not "telling" to be naked in front of strangers. The only way you'll know more about me is if I tell you plain and simple.

Does it bother you that a dancer can be naked on your lap, make you think she likes you, take your money for it, and not give a d### about you all in the same breath? Oh too bad.

Yeah definatly although not all strippers are good listeners or good at dealing with those situations and some may not want to either.
The thing I love most about my work is putting smiles on faces whether that be by performing or talking. I am good at dealing with depressed or worried people and I don't stop being me when I'm at work so it is something I'll take on.

About the "when you're naked you have nothing to hide" thing. Is is true in my case - I am exactly the same person at work as outside of it but it's not true of alot of strippers - many don't want to reveal things about themselves or even act the same at work as they do elsewhere. That's fine - each to their own (-:
