I would pay off my student loans, buy a house and then put the rest away for my son's college education

i'd buy a car, get out of debt spend maybe $5000 on misc. stuff(clothes, vacation, etc) then hire someone to invest it and basically let it grow interest.
oh...and i'd buy myself a bowflex and a tanning bed
There's a wild side behind every innocent face.
End violence against women.
I support Dottie.
I don't play the lottery, and I would never want to win. Rotten.com has a pretty good article on the subject.
The timeline at the bottom is especially interesting.
I occasionally buy a ticket. If I won a million I'd buy a house and who knows what with the rest. Most would go to taxes I'm sure.
Once in a while I'll buy a scratch-off ticket, but I've never bought a Powerball ticket or anything.
If I won the lottery, I'd buy a house (maybe a couple so I can rent some out to make even more money.. lol...), I'd buy a new car, I'd pay off my parents' and my bills, buy my parents the new house they want, pay off my student loans and pay for the rest of my college, take a vacation, invest most of it, and go on a shopping spree with some of it. Wow, talking about all that makes me wanna go out and buy some tickets... lol....

Depends on the size of the jackpot.
$1 million - Pay off my parents house, maybe get some elective surgery, buy a home, invest the rest, but don't quit my job.
$10 million - All of the above, except I'd quit my job. I can live off 2% interest on the remaining $5 million. New cars for my entire family.
$100 million - All of the above, plus take a trip around the world visiting all the hot strippers that I can stand. Pay $100 per lap dance. Hopefully at those prices, maybe I can get some of the retirees on the board to strap on the 7" platforms for one more night.
With respect to any jackpot size, keep a low profile. I don't want to be the next Jack Whittaker. In many respects, the time that not having to work for a living would free up for me to do the things I would want to do would mean more than the money itself.
I'd still have to do something to give my life purpose though, and I think that's why a lot of lottery winners tend to become miserable.
Former SCJ now in rehab.
I hardly ever play, but I'd be thrilled to win a measly $15,000. That would get me out of debt and put a little bit in savings so I don't starve every time I'm between jobs. I enjoy working and I wouldn't want to stop; I don't have an extravagant lifestyle. I don't want much. I just want this fucking car and credit card paid off, and get the dental work I need!
1 Set my parents & step-mom up for the rest of their golden years, comfortably.
2 Start some businesses.
3 Start a work ranch/ school for troubled kids, like Deep Spring College on the CA/NV border.
4 Run a comedy/ advice website.
& Yes I know of people who have burned through large sums of suddenly acquired money. It makes me think this saying is true: "Money doesn't change people, it just magnifies what was there before."
Open my own restaurant and bakery. Perhaps buy a strip club or two also. Buy a nice home. Give some to my grandmother so she could leave very comfortably also. Travel
^^^love the bakery plan! i would love to do that too!
i would buy a house for myself..a house for my mom so she can finally divorce my dad...put enough money away so she can quit her job and relax and do all the things she couldn't do because she's been taking care of kids since she was 5. that would make me happier than anything else.
~The best revenge is enjoying life.
I played for the first time 3 weeks ago. Finally checked the ticket a couple days ago. I lost.... I coulda got 1/3 of a latte with that dollar...I feel so cheated.

I would basically invest,open a business,and continue my education.
So basically we can make even more money and so on....
I opened this topic because I have a friend,he bought $1000 worth of tickets, you know the ones you scratch like Bingo and he won $25,000.Lucky guy!!!
anyway, good luck for all lottery players!!!
Id rather take that $1000 and play craps with it than take the luck of scratchers... odds are much better with craps... did his hand fall off after scratching all those scratchers? ouchie!
It depends on how much i won what I would do with it.
Less that 2 million, honestly not too much of a change. I would buy a new house and a new car, and pay off my bills; and get the surgeries I want done, and I would still work.
If I won 2 to 5 million I would still do all of the above, but I would quit work, and travel for a little while. (US travel only though, maybe a 2 week trip over seas once a year)
If I won 5 to 10 million same as above only a 2 month trip overseas, lol.
If I won 10 to 50 million, all of the above, plau buy property, built my own golf course and resell some of the land for 50k each lot and build a nice sub division around it. And make a few unanamous(sp) house payments for a few friends and family.
Over 50 million, shit; I wouldn't know what to do, lol. Well actually, I would do everything listed above, and also buy about 1,000 acres in BFE, and build a dog and cat rescue for those animals that get dumped at kill shelters. Hopefully they would find forever homes, but if not; tha's ok too. They could life the rest of their lives knowing they wouldn't get beat or hurt, and they would be spoiled rotten.
I play the Powerball about once a month. It's a dollar, hell I spend lots more than a dollar entertaining myself and if it gives me just a smidgen of a chance at winning way more... cool. If I won, I would buy myself a wonderful cottage off some island and live the rest of my days making my jewelry and throwing intimate parties for small groups of friends. I'd invest a good portion and donate anything I didn't spend(or whats left over when I pass away) to charities for kids in need and animal welfare groups. I don't see myself winning big in the lottery but ....oh it's nice to dream!

~ my very own pole dancer!
I don't gamble, I never really got into it. If I did win, I'd probably put half of it into saving for future plans, and the rest would be spent helping set my family up, then myself. Then a small portion would go to miscellaneous expenditures and animal welfare groups.

I do the scratch offs occasionally, more for fun than anything. I keep them in the car and it gives me something to do when stuck in traffic. If I win something, I leave it in the car, and when I'm broke and need to pay the $9 toll, I stop at the gas station and cash them in b4 getting on the highway.
My mom occasionally plays regualr lotto and Powerball. I always think about what I'd do if I won Powerball (over $200 mil). I'd give $1M to every person who I'm close to (totaled about 13 people), buy a house or two, get a new car, invest, give to charity (people alway say that, but I actually mean it) shop, open a few businesses (probably a SC), take a lot of vacations, get out of debt (that's probably 2nd).
If I won only $1M or something small like that, I'd buy a house (or at least pay off my mom's house ad make some improvements), get out of debt, finish school, take a trip to the Galapagos Islands with my mom and my BF, save, invest, give 10% to my church... that's pretty much it.
Hmmm....
If I won the lottery i'd invest in some property, pay my dad back for school and put money aside for the rest of my school I have left. I'd give some to my mom to make her retirement a bit cushier.
I'd also go on a few trips, buy some new toys for my friends and boyfriend.
Oh! And get a newer car![]()

I would buy $750,000 dollars worth of jarlsburg cheese.
The rest I would probably waste on foolish things.

I love cheese. Can you tell me what's so great about this kind???What other kind of cheese does this taste like???Originally Posted by Prester_John

All of you lucky winners drop me a PM....Contact a financial planner. Rich people don't tend to stay that way without a little planning. If you have the choice between annual payments and a single large payout, you should consider the big jackpot. It's less money total, but it's probably about the same as the annuity if you take the lump sum and invest it in interest-bearing savings bonds. However, the single large payout may incur a higher tax rate. Ask your tax experts.![]()
