    Default My Grillz

Does anyone else think that this is the most idiotic song ever? I'm glad we're not allowed to play rap in the club I work at, because I fear that I would have to expose my sensitive ears to this nonsense over and over and over every night. Its pretty sad when rappers have nothing better to rap about than their teeth or their shoes (Air Force Ones).

I think it's a good song. It has a nice beat and clever lyrics. It's very pop, but sometimes that's all I feel like listening to.

I can't stand that song. The first time I heard it I thought I was hearing a bad DJ remix because it just doesn't fit well within itself. But, diff'rent strokes. I know lots of people who don't like Kanye West or George Strait.

Grillz was prob produced and mixed by Jermain Dupree. The song is Nelly feat. Paul Wall, Big Gimp, and that one guy from the St. lunatics.

Well, first of all, I dont think its right for a club to enforce the types or genres of music that you are allowed to play. In my opinion, a dancer is an artist. Dancing being her artform. If You get off, and let your artistic values shine thru when a particular song or genre is played, then who is to limit or set boundaries for your creativity. But, it sounds like you werent even trying to hear any other hip hop songs. Im not 'coming at you', im just trying to express the fact that if you have an open mind, you might find that there are *some*, and at the least, *ONE* song (s) that you might like that have a hip-hop beat... At My club, there is a mix of audience, and MANY of the older white males who have been cooped up in suburbs and in high-class society have never had a good exposure to hip hop and some other kinds of music, and are more than happy standing up and dancing all the way to stage to tip a girl for the jiggy music and her take and expressional movement to the song.

Was this aimed at me? I do have an open mind, and I love many rap/hip hop/r&b songs, just not Grillz. We're not allowed to play rap in my club because the owner/management doesn't want the customers to end up being a bunch of broke little gangster wannabes. Now I'm not saying I agree with that, but thats their perspective. We do have a few "owner approved" rap songs, but that's it. But anyway, I love rap and everything, just not this song.

I'm all for artistic freedom, but the primary purpose of dancing in a strip club is to make money, not for artistic expression. Its simply a proven fact that certain types of music bring the wrong element into clubs, which tends to run the money customers out.

The club I work at plays just about everything. So, I have the pleasure of listening to Grillz, Laffy Taffy, anything Jon Bon Jovi, Prince, Kenny G, Celine Dion, and Metallica all in the same hour (you get the idea).

I don't think Grillz would be running the customers out anytime soon, especially considering our music mix. I don't mind the song's danceable beat, but the lyrical content is another matter. And has anyone seen the video -- Give me a break!

    Every time i see you
Tha first thing im gon say hey is.....

    [Chorus]
Now that we're here, it's so far away
All the struggle we thought was in vain
And all the mistakes, one life contained
They all finally start to go away
And now that we're here, it's so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
    I can forgive
And I'm not ashamed to be
The Person that I am today

Dammit, Cassy--why'd you do that?? Now I'll never be able to play this song, lol...

But why is it no one has asked me for it yet? Should I be glad? I do like some Nelly, but these lyrics are f*cking ridiculous.

It's alright, though--the same thing happened when someone posted the lyrics to "Get Low"--which I had liked until then.

I love this song. Music is like candy, it doesnt always have to have a point. How many time do we do things everyday that have no point. Sometimes it is just nice to relax and anjoy a good song. Nelly is a very clever man. If he can make $$ singing about shoes, cars and teeth, let him. we make money off our ass and tits, whats the difference. some people like it some dont.

Good point, and good ol' Rock & Roll has banality in great plenitude, lol...

There are some songs I just cannot play, though, from every genre.

"Sex and Candy", for instance. Can't handle it. I lie when people ask for it, whatever works--don't have it, can't find it, whatever--that guy just sounds f*cking retarded, literally...

I do like a lot of Nelly, but for some reason "Do you Wanna Ride with Me" drives me batshit "Must be the Money!" over and over and over again, lol.

"Back that Ass Up", by Juvenile ("youse a real fine momma...") another one I lie shamelessly about, sorry. A gun to my head might get me to play it, but I might even claim I couldn't find it, then...

"Heaven" by DJ Sammy (?)--I'd rather deal with 9 foot high devils with red hot pitchforks than listen to this one over and over--though I am actually considering playing it for Meadow--after Race Week, maybe, lol.

"Castles in the Sky"--I forget who does this vile bit of fluff. "Do you ever wonder why..." No! Now please shut up.

I still have no clue what this song sounds like though, so I will shut up before Blade or Juliette 'warns' me.

The lyrics don't impress me, but who cares. Hell, I even played "Get Low" again the other night, voluntarily, lol.

I'll let you know when I actually have heard it, maybe.
