I am thinking about setting up an alternate profile on myspace for work only, to advertise in hopes of getting more guys to come see me (visit my club) & then keep in contact with the regulars. Good or bad idea?![]()

It could definitely be good advertising, but there's two major drawbacks:
(1) Many of the big-spending regulars at my club are older gentlemen, and they may not be all that computer-literate (and may be turned off by the very 20-something-marketed MySpace).
(2) You *will* get a lot of flack from random people. I don't say anything in my profile about the whole stripper thing, and I get begged for naked pictures constantly. Not to mention all the random people who will probably feel that any mention of stripping means that it's open season to call you a whore and all sorts of other nasty things.
If you've got a thick skin and you're OK with a MySpace profile meaning most of the people you get through it will be college-to-25 age range, then it could be a very good tool.
^^^ A myspace tip about mail (-:
Do an away notice asking people not to mail you about "xy&z" or just saying you're away or can't answer mail. I used to get so much shit mail at myspace but since I put up an away notice (it comes up when people try to mail you) I hardly get any and when I do now it's from ok people.
I have never had any flack for being a stripper though, only nice things (-:
Oops, I totally forgot to answer the original question. I think it can't hurt to try. I have my work details on my myspace profile. I don't think it's generating me alot of work (- some so far but not alot), but it's not loosing me any work either (-:
well I have a regular profile right now but I don't even tell people what I do.
I don't want to mix the 2 profiles because that would give away too much personal info.
so yeah I guess it can't hurt to try![]()
I think its a good idea, it can't hurt, faux celebs promote themselves all the time(real world/mtv wannabes)
I think it's a good idea, having two seperate ones, one for the regular life you and the other for the stripper promo you. It doesn't have to be all flashy or anything, you can mainly make it pretty and put things on it about you dancing where and when. Add things possibly like an amazon wishlist so if custies want to buy you a gift for your b-day or holiday then they know what you like. As long as you keep them seperate I think it is a good way for regulars to 1) know your schedule without having your phone # 2) it gives them a sense of having contact with you whilst you still remain free from having actual contact with them OTC.

I have a work one ( goldcoastgirl.info ) due to my involvement with private party dancing. This is aimed at customers and clients as well as anyone who wants to just keep track of my appearances (where, when, etc).
I usually tell customers and clients about the website (highly recommend getting a fwd-ing address like my goldcoastgirl.info as it makes it easier for people to remember if you can't actually give them a biz card in the club) once they have purchased a private lap dance from me (or I have worked a private party where they were present if it wasn't booked thru any of the agencies I work with).
As for business, it's a long term thing.. I'm hoping it will generate business eventually. It also allows people to see my details (when, where etc) without having to be a friend (whilst at the same time allowing them that option if they so choose).
It can't hurt to have one for work. As for the mindless email, it's called the delete button or you can come up with a standard reply (like I have and use).... and Lucy Blue also has a good advice.. the away button can work wonders as does "being selective" about your friends (only adding them if they know your email addy or last name).
I use my full stripper name on MySpace not my real one.

I think it's a good idea (I haven't posted here in SOOOOO long! WOW!)
The cool thing about myspace is that you can search for people in your area....but don't be surprised if they find BOTH of your profiles....and recoginze you.

yeah, i would totally do it besides for the fact mentioned by fiestykitty. if you put your age and location on there, which i'm guessing you'd do...people that you know could easily find you...

Mine actually gets me a lot of customers. Cant hurt to try.
Number of times Rickrolled on stage: 6

Marasmus ... "Ladies don't fart. They butt-laugh."
Marasmus says, "Oh no, that wasn't gas, it was merely a rectal chuckle."
Marek says, "A friend of mine got punched in the face by a dominatrix stripper about two weeks ago and I thought of you."

yes this is my concern with the whole thing. it's funny because many, many customers at my club have found my regular profile. then when i go out to regular clubs people go "hey aren't you that girl from myspace"? if they're doing a search for a particular demographic, both of your profiles will likely pop up and they'll see you, so you might as well just have one!Originally Posted by feistykitty

Interesting idea, I have a few myspace accounts but none of them mention dancing.

I guess the only way around the multiple accounts showing up in a search and only being recognised on one is to ..well.. keep the facial shots and any 'recognise-able' features to the regular profile.. whilst providing butt and other 'mysterious' (yet arty) shots on your work one.
Plenty of escorts on their websites do the same thing with hats, masks etc so you could employ the same sort of thing (yet do it in an artsy way) on your 'stripper' myspace profile?
Just a thought.

yes, that is something along the line of what I was thinking of doingOriginally Posted by GoldCoastGirl

Myspace has 14 year olds on it. I just read a thread about NBC catching Older males that's trying to talk to young girls. They set them up (somehow) and bring them on the show to talk. they say most of the men are child molesters!!! Just letting you know!
Yeah...whatever. Myspace rules. Life doesn't get any better than having hot guys tell the world how hot they think I am. I need to put up more pictures.Originally Posted by LilAlize

No need to be a myspace whore or anything. It's easy to make the dancer one without showing your face. Artsy shots of your feet in stilettos, your back, etc. work.
As far as 14 year olds on there, yeah, there are, and there are cho mo's everywhere.... not just myspace.

Honestly, the vast majority of your customers aren't looking at the internet for a dancer, they simply decide on a club based on it's general reputation. A myspace profile couldn't HURT, but as a guy i'm not exactly checking out myspace before i go to a club. Though sometimes it tempts a guy to search myspace after you've already met a stripper, searching myspace before you meet her isn't something i have ever done or heard of anyone doing.
Guys usually talk about the club first, then the individual dancers second. If they will search the net at all it will be searching for the club's website. You might do better having your pic on the clubs website, but you may not want to do that.

look at mine
I say im 14 so my profile will show as private, and I have to accept u as my friend to see it, maybe you could do that with your real one.

Another way is to go into your account and set it up so that anyone who knows your email address or last name can only request to be added as a friend.Originally Posted by buffie06
It's not hard to find my last name (it's my stage last name not my real one) as well as my email address in my profile. I've found it helps to weed out the lazy "just add me for the sake of adding me" people.

I've created a new website for this specific purpose...dancer advertising and self-promotion. My ad is still pending placement in the SW classified section but for now the site is ledprofessionals.com. Not nearly as much traffic as myspace but hopefully will grow.
