    Default Backyard nature show

My grandparents, who I am currently visiting, live on a suburban lot with a lot of trees. Due to the trees, they also have a lot of squirrels. There is a white cat who lives across the street and likes to come hang out in their backyard.

So right now I'm sitting at the kitchen table, next to a big picture window looking into the backyard. I saw a flash of white out of the corner of my eye, and saw the cat streak across the patio to grab a huge squirrel almost half his size. I feel bad for the squirrel, but wow. It looked just like the leopards grabbing gazelles on nature shows. Wasn't expecting THAT this morning!

My brother lives in rural Tennessee (outside of Nashville) & he told me the feral pet cat that lives at his house HAD to start hunting like that white cat because other cats would steal the food left out for him. He described the cat going from scrawny & beat-up to fat & happy, but the number of squirrels dropped signifigantly....LOL

LOL, cool Yek!! My "Tabbikins" thinks she's a big bad jungle kitty at times too.

She had brougt homw, mice, baby bunnies, moles, voles, birds, squirrls, and really big bugs, lol.

And all w/o front claws too, and at 14 yrs of age, lol.

Watching her stalk is funny, and amazing all at the same time.

Why? Because they naturally have a "high prey" drive? Hell that's one of the better things about them ,lol.

I used to hate cats too until I got Baggy. He was my 1st kitty and he was great. I had a really good experience with him and warmed up to cats after him.

Luke says after Tabby passes (she's 14 now, lol) he would like to get a Russian Blue. Which is one of my fav kinds, second only to Leopards.

If you have never seen a leopard they are beautiful!!

I'll post pics of both, the russian 1st then the leopard.

Awww.. Kit, The first one looks just like my "Snickers" (so named because he actually snickered). He had yellow eyes--he was absolutely gorgeous.

I really like the blues, I fell in love with the color after that one movie dogs vs cats (or whatever it's called).

But those bengals are really cool looing too, maybe he'll let us get both of them, lol. afterall two cats aren't any harder than one....

True.. I always had cats in pairs. It's no harder than having just one. I'll have to see if I can dig up a pic of Snickers to show ya. I ended up having to give him, and my other one away in AZ, because the neighborhood kids kept bringing me every animal imaginable that needed help. LOL.. So my house was ALWAYS full! I knew the people that came and got Snickers were good ones, because they drove all the way from Tempe (we lived in Peoria), to pick him up. They wanted a blue, with yellow eyes.

My moms place has deer wandering around in the front hard all the time, especially in the early morning. She has a big picture window to the front yard and lives in a clearing in the middle of 80 acres of woods so we can watch lots of critters in the front yard. I love watching all the racoons up here in Canada, too.
