Default What do you say to...

I start tonight after being a chicken shit for too long. Everything is good to go but one thing is really bothering me. I was stationed here in San Diego in the military for four years. I worked with a ton of people at a rather large command and was very well known (I was an instructor) amongst the crew. San Diego is where I will be stripping. How do you get past any awkward moment (if any) with people that you know outside of your occupation as a stripper? Example: Your boss from your day job walks in. I know once the word gets back to my old command that I strip lots of the guys will come in to take a look. I am trying to look at this as a possible money maker for me early on, but am clueless as how to react to peoples positive or negative reactions.

    Help!

I have no advice - last time this happened to me I hid!! I'm sure someone more mature than I will come along with some good advice.

it all depends on you. if you have zero qualms about dancing - then hell yeah, you are going to have a cash cow on your hands.

moreover, they're in a strip club too -- i'm sure they would feel far more awkward than you. you have the home ground advantage. they will be walking into your lair... where you have your girls and all the power...

my approach was to smile and play up to them on stage on purpose. the best defense is a good offense... right?

(shock and awe) or some such.

I act like I don't even notice them. And, go about my biz.

I work in the same town that I live in and went to high school in, so people I know come into my club all the time. Sometimes I'll pretend I don't see them and just keep working and doing my own thing, other times I'll suck it up and go talk to them if I feel comfortable enough and it's someone I know fairly well and am ok with. I'm not embarassed about what I do, and I'm very comfortable with myself, so I don't really have a problem with it. I'm not going to go run and hide and be ashamed of what I do. I just keep working and go with the flow.

I think that the best thing to do is remain confident about your job... If you run and hide, or act uncomfortable they might think that you are ashamed about what you do... Fake it till you make it...

The worst situation I had was a guy who worked for my father came in... I was so afraid that he was gonna tell my father (who still doesn't know I dance, its amazing how much $$ cocktail waitresses make )... But, in the end he told me he wouldn't say anything to him, I guess that would have been a dumb move on his part anyway... "By the way, I saw your daughter naked last night"

Just be confident... Afterall, how judgemental can they be??? They are in the club too!!

i saw a guy i went to jr. high with while i was dancing once!
haha, instead of ignoring him give him so much attention while on stage that it embarrasses him. you will surely get dances from him and his friends.
