    Default ANOTHER Computer Question

Hi, I know I know this is stripperweb not computerweb, but there's so many computer smart people here i just thought i'd ask. I wanted to buy a word perfect software but on their website its 299.99 thats alot of dough!, but then i saw there's some other websites selling it for $12.00. What do you think of these sites?

    http://www.softwareoutlets.com/122/w...ampaign=google

    http://www.edirectsoftware.com/bestsellers5.php

    http://www.softwareoutlet.com/Mercha...duct_Code=0281

Are these for real? what do you recommend?

Well, you can't buy a $300 piece of software for $12 unless it is Pirate or maybe an older version, or a stripped down version. But the sites "look" real.

    I would be cautious.

There is a free office sweet that is 100% free, it's pretty cool for the fact that it's free

^^^ I highly agree with Mast's suggestion. I use it myself.

300 buck software for 12 bucks - you know that shit is pirated. And pirates generally have little regard for their customers by adding in all kinds of little surprises to your computer with the install.

yes, agreed. I purchased $250 software because i need it to do what i need done, and a cheaper version would just mess up with my stuff.

Even my pirated games are a piss-off to play because they keep shutting down before I could save my progress.

Stick with the pricey original, or go for a cheaper SIMILAR thing, which is NOT the original

Meea: I still suggest openoffice.org Sun Microsystems developed it to challenge microsoft's Office, and it's good. The software could easily retail for 300+. It's free, try it first, and if you don't like it, shell out big bucks. You ONLY have to download it and install it. Here is a link to screenshots of it:

Each one of the products is in there, click on them. It's awesome for the price - 0.

I downloaded it earlier, just to check things out. I don't need it, since I already have the Muckrosoft stuff, but it's really good. I recommend it as well.

Typically, your computer will come with some sort of word processing program that will allow you to save a file as "RTF". This is "Rich Text Format". If you save a file in RTF, then anyone who receives it will be able to read it, and unless you're doing something rather elaborate with the file, you will be able to format it however you like.
Changes are...you won't HAVE to buy something. But if you are, then get MSWord.

Just make sure you have a lot of memory; it has ten times the memory footprint of the oft-maligned, yet indispensible M$ Office.

You know what open office has the MS doesn't? The ability to print to adobe pdf. That feature costs 200.00 ALONE.
Office 12 will finally have this capability integrated into the package, in addition to the elimination of M$ proprietary document formats in exchange for XML-based standard document types. This also makes a big difference in the footprint of document sizes.

Of course you could always get great deals on "Educational" copies of software at these things called computer shows that come around one a month in most places.

Latest version of OpenOffice uses the same amount of ram as Office 2003 Service Release 2. It does have a startsmart that eats another 20 megs of ram, but you can kill that. However it still uses that Java core and can feel sluggish.

Didn'tI read somewhere that ms was patenting a protection tag in their xml for limitation purposes? Not sure... but the beta release 2 of office 12 is not showing me much of a standardize image writing printer work around.
