    Exclamation Shaving Emergency!! Help

ok here is my problem. I used Nair on Thursday to get rid iff all te hair below the belt for my audition. Today I tried to use it to get rid of the stubble that I have. Well it didnt work so I tried to shave......ouch! IT hurt and now I have red bumps and a few nicks and I have to work my very first shif as a dancer tonight!
Is there anythig I can do to get rid of the bumps and redness? OR should I just go buy booty shorts? Help!

Nair has always made me break out or get a rash. I use the Nair for face, and you have to be careful to make sure you get it all off your skin and wash it well afterwards. You should've shaved downward (with the grain) if the hair wasn't that long. But, it's too late. At the local drug stores there should be some Bikini Zone, or Noxema Bikini area analgesic creams. You can make due with these. Make sure you pick one with Benzocaine (numbing agent) in it. In the mean time, put some Neosporin on it to try to cool it down and get rid of some of the redness. Try to find some "Tend Skin". It's a product made specifically for razor burn, and it works wonders. It's about $25 a bottle, but worth every cent. Good luck, I know how that feels, and I know it hurts like a mofo. Do well tonight!!

I'm allergic/very very sensitive to nair. You could try using Bikini Zone, which usually takes most of my redness away after shaving. Take advil, which can help inflammation, and also try using ice to also take down some swelling (The cold ice will temporarily make the area red/pink, so don't do this right before work. Then use concealer in a color that matches your skin tone to cover bumps.

Next time, after you shave, apply lotion as soon as you dry off, and then apply a solid deodorant to the shaved area. Dove makes an invisible solid for sensitive skin, and I like that one best. You won't get razor burn anymore once you start doing this.

Intresting factoid: the main ingredient used in depilitory products such as Nair is the same ingredient used in chemical hair relaxers, sodium hydroxide. When using a relaxer, the manufacturer always reccommends parting the hair into several sections and applying protroleum based product on the scalp to protect the scalp from chemical burns. I highly recommened keeping this stuff away from your crotch.

If you're gonna shave, use a new blade everytime and shave with the direction of the hair growth.
