    Post Homemade remedies

I have noticed that there are many remedies for all kinds of things.

If you don't mind (for all who try to find those remedies), please post your potions, lotions, and other remedies here please.

    Thank you so kindly!

Saving used tea bags (perferably green tea) in the 'fridge for use as cold compresses on puffy eyes. Added bonus: if it's caffinated, It also has a slight, temporary firming effect.

I make my own body scrub with brown sugar and olive oil. You can use salt instead of sugar, but don't use it on freshly shaven legs. OUCH!

Honey as a facial mask. It contains a natural antibiotic that's great for acne prone skin.

Making a paste with oatmeal and water as an overnight zit healer.

Lemon and orange peels in the sink disposal. It's not a remedy, but it does keep your sink smelling nice.

If you are sick from a cold, or have a stomach ache, or feel hung over, mix two tablespoons of sugar and add enough lemons until you make a thick paste... then you add a little bit of water. Enough so you could comfortably drink it down... This sounds a little off, but its been in my family (Dominican Republic) forever!

Bruises - tear a brown paper bag, wet it with cold water, and let it sit on your bruises for awhile.

    Clarifying face mask - honey

for a cold - drink hot lemonade with honey if your throat is sore, and eat lots of raw garlic. Dab lavendar essential oil under your nose to clear up congestion.

cuts that are infected - open a clove of garlic and rub in on your cut every two hours. It stings really bad, but all your infection will be gone in a day. Even works for staph infections.

shampoo - a little baking soda in water
toothpaste - a little baking soda with a few drops of peppermint oil shaken in
conditioner - coconut oil on the ends and dry parts.

tummy ache - drink peppermint tea and hold moss agate

bee sting/little cut that stings - grab some plantain (grows everywhere) activate it with your own spit, and put it on your cut or sting. Instantly all better.

Bug bites/rashes - lavendar essential oil.

Headaches - lavendar and peppermint essential oil, rub them in where it hurts.

Hot prune juice is the best laxitive to get your traffic flowing.

Signs of a cold- eat oranges, drink orange juice, take vitamin C throat drops to help keep from going full blown.

Also for bee stings-baking soda and a little water, apply paste to sting. Helps swelling.

    Re: Homemade remedies

Thank you all for your current posts and future posts as well. Here are some ideas i have found in the winter 2006 Teen magazine:

    1. speed dry nail polish by dipping your nails in a bowl of ice water.

    2. soften your hair wax by warming the container with a blowdryer

    3. to keep lipstick off your teeth put your finger between your lips, pucker, and pull.

    4. make your lipstick last longer by first dusting your lips with a loose powder

    5. Tone down pimple redness by putting a potato slice over the spot for 10 to 15 minutes.

    6. if humidity has turned your hair into a frizz ball, scrunch a drop or two of lotion onto the ends.

    7. If you're out of cleanser, milk on a cotton ball makes a super substitute

    8. For a tress treatment, massage conditioner into your strands and cover your hair in plastic wrap. THen wrap a warm towel around your head for 20 minutes

    9. add a few drops of baby oil into your body lotion for extra silky skin.

    10. Use a spf lip balm under your lipstick for extra sun protection

    11. to rid yourself of flyaways, run a dryer sheet through your hair

    12. gently rub a q-tip over your lashes before your mascara dries to prevent clumps

    13. to lock in your lip color, rub an ice cube over your lips for 20 seconds

    14. remove lipstains quickly by using a cotton soaked with moisturizer on you lips

    15. Use conditioner as a shaving cream

    16. to even out your cup size, get a padded bra and remove the padding on the side that is bigger

    Make your own bath salts:
    * 5 drops yellow food coloring
    * 2 drops red food coloring
    * 4 drops musk fragrant or essential oil
    * 3 drops Jasmine fragrant or essential oil
    * 3 cups epsom salts
    * 1 cup baking soda
    * 2 teaspoons liquid glycerin (skin moisturizer) (optional)
Combine them all together at once. Or if you want a cool layering effect then combine in different dishes and layer on top of one another.
