    Naming my newly adopted doberman

I just adopted the most beautiful 13 month old doberman! I've had her for five days. She was 18 pounds underweight and pulled unbelievabley. Now she's gaining and on her way to walking like a champ! We'd like to train her in another language. We were thinking german because she's a dobe, but german is such a common language used for training. Any sugestions there?

Anyway, my boyfriend and I agreed on the name Mimi (french name meaning faithful guard). I need help with the rest of her name... I was thinking Madmoiselle Mimi Love, Mimi Love, or Mimi Blue Belle (she's a blue dobe). But I don't know, anyone out there have any flashes of brilliance?

Also, any one have tips on training dogs or advice on raising a doberman
I'm such a proud Mama! I wish I could upload a pic. She is so gorgeous!

How about Gaelic. It sounds really rude when it's not.

Mimi Blue Sky Or even Mimi Summer Sky

    Darling Mimi ?

    Mimi Sapphire

I know the gem names but it sounds pretty and it's a dog.

I would use either Klingon http://www.kli.org/

    or

    Elvish http://www.elvish.org/.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

Natilus... I like that. Mimi and Rudopho were the main characters in the opera La Boheme. They met, were soul mates and then Mimi died. I danced under Rue when I first began dancing because my boyfriend had just died and, while it sounds silly, I like to memorialize him. I only changed it because when the DJ announced it no one could understand what he was saying.

Fancy girl... Vietnamese is interesting because I may be wrong, but doesn't the language have a fench influence? Crow (love that nickname)... Gaelic is another good on, I'm Scottish/Irish on my fathers side.

Vietnam was colonized by the French for the longest time...unsure if it overly influenced their language though. C'mon, you know you want to order your dog in Elvish! (I think very cool, but not fitting with the french opera theme).

Also, research the Caribbean where the French also had influence. Then you can maybe pick a language from one of the islands that has more of a mixture of French in it than Vietnamese.

    Name her Fang.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Congratulations for now owning the best breed out there!!!!

If you have never owned a dobe, you are in for a world of fun!!!

I love "velcro dogs", they are so good with kids and people. As well as they can be a little tough to train at times, but they really want to please their masters.

When we move we are getting a male dobe, he's beautiful already, lol!

I really dig the multiple name concept on a doberman, perhaps incorporating a form of your last name could help?

But to stick with proper French it would sound good to say (Using Dupont as an example)

    Madam Mimi De La Dupont

People are not ruled by their memories.

Okay, its official. She is now Mademoiselle Mimi La Rue, my boyfriend's pick. It was that or Mimi Von Funkerdink. I was pulling for the latter, but I gave in because in most cases when it comes to all of our animals (the greatest cat in all of the universe, Mister Boots and two cockatiels) what I say goes. I think its a mom thing. :-)

We're still up in the air about the language thing. Its between Elvish and Creole.

She truly is wonderful. She's still gaining weight and really responding to love and guidance. This is the first dog that I've ever had of my own... I usually babysit everyone else's and doberman's are my favorite. People have the most horrible misconceptions about them.

Kitana... I wasn't sure from your post if you had already gotten your dobe or not, but adoption really is the way to go. Mimi is thirteen months, but there was a male up for adoption that was only a couple of months old. People just aren't reponsible, they get a pet before thinking about the responsibility that's involved. Most don't have extreemly difficult behavior, they just have owners that don't want to deal with puppy behavior, deal with the dog when it gets bigger, or take the time to give then the simple guidance and love they need to become a wonderful addition to your family.

I'm working on some pictures. I don't have a dig camera or a phone that can take pics. :-(
