    Default Cheerleaders Turned Strippers?

I cheered for 6 years, 2 in JH and all 4 years of HS. Tonight was really slow so I was watching a basketball game at work and I when mentioned that I missed cheer, an outbreak of "oh my gosh I do too"... "oh YOU were a cheerleader too"... "oh my goodness I didn't cheer but I did drill team" rushed through the club! It got me thinking about it... cheer is putting on a super short skirt and nice makeup with curls, and dancing around in front of a bunch of people, but for free, so could it be only natural for lots of cheerleaders to be more likely to do damn near the same thing for lots and lots of money? Oh, and have any of you ladies cheered/drill team/some form of dance (ballet, tap, jazz, modern)? Just to see!

I was a cheerleader, but just for one year in junior high. Then I decided to go back to playing basketball instead.

I tryed out for cheerleading 3 times and never made it, Because it takes me a little longer to pick up new things and they rushed right threw the cheers and stunts and it was just to fast for me to learn it. Im sure I could of learned it tho if they gave me a chance....

I was on drill team for 3 years and a cheerleader for 1. I also had training in modern, jazz, and hip hop dance. Too bad I don't have any of the flexibility left that I used to have!!!

I cheered for 3 years but quit when I couldn't get the landings on my full while most of the other girls were. I guess lucky for me there's not as much tumbling in the dancing business.

7 years of ballet, 7 years of gymnastics, 3 years tap, 2 years jazz.

    Yeah.
I think my parents might be a bit disappointed about what all those lessons are getting used for.

Cheerleading doesn't really exist within the (primary/high) schools here in Aust. Definately not like it does in the US (from my first hand and tv experience). OTOH, there are plenty of dance schools and some of the private primary/high schools do incorporate dance into the cirriculum (sp?).

Personally, my mother was the driving force behind me learning the piano (something I hope to one day be able to afford to take lessons again as I do miss it) as well as various dancing styles: ballet, jazz, tap, ballroom, 'funk' dancing. In my adult life, I took Latin American (Rio Rhythmics is the school for those interested and I do recommend them) for 6 months.... and have taught myself a little bit of Belly Dancing (something I wouldn't mind learning how to do).

If money was never an issue, I would go back to learn Ballroom, Latin American and Belly Dancing (as well as re-start my piano lessons). I'm done with ballet, jazz, tap and 'funk' dancing. I enjoyed doing them at the time ... and all of them have come in handy in my current profession to one extent or the other... just not something in my adult life I wish to persue.
