Is it really ALL about the money???

I've been posting comments, and checking out threads all over this site and REALLY girls, it's dissapointing! EVERYONE is so 'money, money, money'! Don't get me wrong...money maling is GOOOOOOOOOOOD! but if you really wanna make MORE of it in the LONG run you gotta look deeper.
And hey you ACTUALLY even end up enjoying the job! Double bonus!!!

You know when i started in this job, yes it was about the money. But eventually i realised that there is SOOOOOOOO much to learn while at work!

Business for instance...speaking to business men all the time got me thinking...if these guys are succesful enough to be spending 600-1200euro+ on a single bottle of bubbly.... what do they know that i don't???

Now i have 3 succesful businesses AND now i actually just strip for fun! All i had to do was open my ears and ask a few questions!!!

Believe me, when you stop revolving your work 'entirely' around money, you will see a whole new world open up right before your eyes!!!!

And besides... what happens when that rich guy you decided to marry for his money meets some sexy young thing from the new strip joint??? 'and i'm not saying all do that...but it happens more than most think.
But what will you have then??....your looks?...half of his money?...sorry to break it to you girls, but life just isn't that easy anymore!

You should think about starting your OWN future...who wants to do THIS all their life??
It's so much better to enjoy your job...no? And besides..if you do...you end up making MORE money!!!

I know many other members would quit right now if you took the money out of stripping. Im sure as hell wouldnt show my naked body for free.

Who said we wanted to meet the rich guy at the strip club and marry him for his money. To me thats just down right bashing EVERY stripper saying that sterotypical statement. We know life isnt easy and that why most of us bust our asses to make what we have today.

Yes, I work for the money. I do love my job, but I probably wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't for the money and the freedom that I have. I do talk to customers, and listen to them talk about work and everything else, and I do learn a lot from work. I'm looking to buy a house, and I've gotten really good advice from some of the customers. But yes, the job is mainly about money.

I dance mainly because I have a blast doing it. No I wouldnt do it for free.........except at uh the biker rallies I tend to frequent. The money is great dont get me wrong but like any job I have to have fun doing it or I wont do it at all.

I can think of a million other "hobbies" one could have besides shaking it naked on stage for a bunch of drunk idiots.

I do it for the money and only for the money.

This can be as brutal a business as they come, and I have worked every kind of job you can imagine. I do think it's best if stripping is done only on a part time basis, especially in the rougher clubs--and it seems they are all getting rougher all the time.

The same goes for DJing--working this job 4-5 nights a week wears me right the f*ck out, lol...

Maybe if I was like a lot of other DJs, got drunk, played whatever I felt like, and grabbed ass all night, I'd be more relaxed about it. But I cannot do it that way.

Both jobs can still be a lot of fun, but for those of us who rely mostly on it for a living, and having to deal with people (both in and out of the business) who seem to be hell bent on trying to treat us like shit, going for the money is the logical thing to do.

It's a predatory environment. Only the strong survive.

I would not dance for free. But I also wouldn't do any other job for free either. I have been know to say that if every job imaginable paid the same I would rather dance than something else. If I hated being naked, or the club environment there would be no way I would be able to do it, even if it paid this well.

I enjoy the 'adventure' this business brings and have certainly learnt alot about being in business due to being a dancer. Yes, I can and do learn some things from patrons and customers. At the same time, whilst I love this business, I do it for the money.

There aren't too many other businesses I can be in right now that allow me to make so many financial mistakes (I've made a few in my quest for financial literacy) without impacting me too much. There also aren't too many forms of employment I can literally travel my own country (Australia) doing without having to work many many hours and weeks to make a profit.

In the end, I chose this business because of the money. The money I earn from this not only allows me to live... it allows me to invest it into some of my new businesses. Then I will be in the same position as you in a few years time (hopefully).. dancing on a casual basis. Then the money from those businesses combined with my dancing income will be invested elsewhere so that in the end... the money will work for me.

Please be very aware that alot of us do this full time or as our only source of income. Those of us that do, we do not have the luxury of it being not about the money.

There has to be give in take in anything that we do as humans.

We give a lot of ourselves as exotic dancers. So much that there is a huge toll on us emotionally as well as physically and spiritually.

When you think about that, the money isn't really all that good, now is it?

I do dance for fun. In my own home, alone or for my husband. That I do happily for free.

When I have to put up with all the crap that goes along with being a dancer, the paycheck had better reflect it!

I am a grad student, and I don't want to own my own buisness!!!!! Just b/c it was your goal doesn't mean its anyone elses. I don't think anyone would go to work for free. right now dancing is my source of income. I do like dancing, but wouldn't be giving lap dances as a hobby! can think of a lot of other things I would like to do if I didn't have to work like you are saying you don;t why do you feel the need to rub in all of our faces that you don;t need to dance? When i graduate I am not going to work in as a hobby, b/c I enjoy it!! people amaze me everyday

Well ladies, check out Angelique's website...on her main page, she has what she calls the latest on tips for helping one dress better, entice the bigger spenders in the club, etc.. So although she sounds somewhat contrary to it being 'all about the money', since it was/is not (supposedly) for her...she just seems like her whole deal is about trying to shed light on things for other dancers (even on how to make more money). I think Anelique sees herself as a "guide" of sorts. Maybe she's just trying to help us "make the most of it" or whatever, of being in the club (okay, duh, that's obvious). For me, making the most of it comes out to hustling as many dances as I can for having to deal with smoke, rude assholes, overly loud music, and painful shoes for 8 hours plus paying a house fee. I'd rather walk away with bills paid than leave with an alcohol-laden nugget of financial wisdom from a washed up business man who'd tried to twist my nipple (slap). Like I'd take HIS advice, though, LOL.

For me, I def. would not put up w/the crap I do for anything but the money. I had a regular job for 8 years, and thought that as I transitioned into a new career that dancing would be somewhat easy. Little did I know that doing this two days (or nights) in a row would be so hard, or that I would also feel so emotionally drained after each shift. I really need to have a day off in b/w each shift, so as to feel rested and ready for the next. I thought that I would not worry about having bad nights, even if I had several good ones...wrong! They still happen, the bad nights, and for me the worst thing about the job is the lack of security, of knowing how much income I'll have and for how long. Now, that's where having other options for income come in handy--but there are many better places to learn about how to run a business than trying to understand it all as ACDC is blasting in your other ear! But, I hear ya, Angelique...make the most of it, cuz nobody wants to have to deal w/these guys forever...

When I read the OP, I thought I understood what she was getting at -- think of dancing as an opportunity to learn from successful people so you may someday have a chance of becoming financially independent from a job. Maybe doing something you like better and could do for longer in your life. Don't just concentrate on dancing alone and how well you're doing that particular night; use it as an opportunity for the longer term.

When I read the responses it seems like that post was interpreted by almost everyone as 'don't dance for the money, give it up or do it for free.' But I believe that is NOT what she said.

I wish I had been using my working contacts as networking opportunities al along. I would have done quite a bit better and would have at least had opportunities come my way that I was more ready for at the time.

It might be good to re-read the OP with that thought in mind, instead of replying to the other posts. If you disagree with what I've said here, that's OK. I have nothing more to add.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

It seems to me that more and more people are coming on this site bashing us. I thought this was a support site for strippers not a "let's make war of everything" site.

I think you have be seriously messed up in the head to dance for fun. There is no other reason to do this except the money, especially in a lap dance club.

Excuse me, Starfire, but plenty of us DO dance for fun (and money) and are not "messed up in the head." I could just as easily say that someone who puts so much of herself into a job like this when she hates it, is messed up in the head. Of course we all need the money, but sheesh, if it's that awful, go do something else. The money isn't worth psychological damage. You should only be stripping if you enjoy it.

Personally, I love it (99% of the time, anyway)! And nothing's wrong with my head.
