    Default Full moon

Last night the club was packed, but all the customers were just revolting slimey gropers. Now usually we get a few wanting discount dances, sneak previews and and extras but last night was ridiculous. It wasn't just me, everytime I went into the change room half the dancers were there complaining that the customers were rude and not buying dances. Even the manager was complaining about the number of people expecting to get in free. Anyway (I'm rambling) I realised that it was almost a full moon. Do you think it is true about people being feral when it is a full moon, or was it just a bad night for everyone?

Lol - yes! I am taking tonight off because it's a full moon. They're not always bad but I definatly find that you tend to come across more arseholes when it's a full moon!

In spite of the common misconceptions about full-moons being the root cause of all that is crazy in the night, the evidence shows otherwise. Many ER doctors will claim that when there is a full moon out they see more crazies than on any other night and the same might be said by cops too. They have done countless studies showing the contrary though, that even though many people to believe that nights with full moons are more odd than any other night, statistics show that it's all psychological. That, in fact, ERs are not any busier than any other night and cops have just as much if not less activity during full moons as any other night. Don't chalk this up to a full moon, just chalk it up to being a goofy night.

Every saturday night in my club is like that. I just don't bother to go anymore. As for the full moon thing, I don't know about the custys, but the dancers are insane during a full moon. Everyone is fighting, getting fired... toss on a couple of crzy custys too... it's not pretty

I use to voulenteer at this nursing home my mom worked at when I was a teenager, it appeared that on full moon days, the residents would all act a little differently, it was kind of weird, so yeah, I believe it!

I disagree with DW. Docs and cops and strip clubs might not be any busier on full moons than any other night, but lemme tell ya, the strip club customers at least are just a bit crazier than normal on full moon nights. Where are your studies for BEHAVIOUR, not NUMBERS??

It would seem most likely to me that if you're doing a study about behavior during full moons, and looking at ER data + Police data the scientists were taking into account the injuries/cause of, and the crimes being committed. But that’s just me.

The statement was simply that docs and cops aren't any busier period. Simple business doesn't and can't take into account behaviour. Maybe the docs and cops are talking about the behaviour of the people they see (just like we do); not that there's anymore of them, just that they're more weird than normal. Seems to me this is a sort of intangible that can't be quantified in any study based on numbers.

I know that whenever I worked on full moon nights, custies and others were more nutty than usual. Often I wouldn't even realize it was a full moon, would comment how everyone seemed a lil nuts tonight, and someone would say "yeah it's full moon". Just can't believe that so many people noticing this are all suffering psychological 'foolishness'.

"My own opinion is that the case for full moon effects has not been made," said Ivan Kelly, a Canadian psychologist at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Kelly has published 15 papers on the topic and reviewed more than 50 others, including one that covered some 200 studies. He concludes that there is not strong evidence of an effect. "

And here is a link loaded with studies, and links to their corresponding abstracts, demonstrating the wealth of studies available that show positive, but mainly negative, results.

I remember working at a 7-11...for a long period of time lol. It seemed that we always had our share of 'off' customers, but that ALL of them showed up on the full moon. Hell, some random guy gave me a fish, live, in a bowl, with a love letter written by a 3rd grader at a full moon lol.

"This study examined the effect of the full moon on agitation manifested by nursing home residents (N = 24). Observations of agitation were recorded on a behavioral mapping instrument, and occurrence of the full moon was operationalized in the three ways most commonly cited in the literature. The hypothesis that elderly nursing home residents become increasingly agitated during a full moon was not supported by this study. In all analyses, agitation was observed less often when the full moon was full than during the other three lunar phases, although differences were not statistically significant."

Darn those people taking actual data and not just hearsay.
