    Default Tss

I am so scared right now guys. I put in a super absorbancy tampon at the beginning of my shift on Sunday (8pm). Today I was taking a shower and I noticed that I still had it in! (5pm) I've been so torn up about the death in the family that I had a tampon in for 2 days straight! Has anyone done this?Im really afraid Im going to get TSS....

if you get tss, you'll notice symptoms very soon. here's webmd's article on it.

    http://www.webmd.com/hw/womens_conditions/hw140191.asp

chances are that you'll be fine though. just don't make a habit of it. i've done it before, and i'm sure plenty of other women have too- tss is more associated with using tampons for far too long every day of your period, or for several periods in a row, than just forgetting once.

still, if you get a fever, aches, vomiting, etc. go to the doc. but i'm sure you'll be fine, hon.

You'll be OK. I once put one in after the other & discovered it later, ha ha. Only ONCE in my life. Just stop using tampons for now & try Instead cups, and that will never happen again.

Should not worry. It's out now, and you have no symptoms! If you start to experience rash or anything flu-like go to the doc. and tell what happened.

I like you have forgot to take them out as well. You should be fine!!!

I know it'll sound weird, but my step mother used to do that all the time (and tell us all about it), and she never got TSS.

I've had TSS twice now. Both times, it did NOT occur because I kept it in too long. This was a few years ago. Scary, but since then I have made it a rule not to use a tampon over the regular absorbancy (unless in dire straits). You would notice if you had it though. I got really hot and feverish, and my face looked as red as a tomato. Also really woozy and dizzy.

Also, with Instead cups, it is my understanding that you can get TSS with those as well. Anything foreign in your vagina can give you TSS. Diaphams as well.

Try getting Organic Cotton tampons. Nylon and rayon, and anything, well, synthetic, are the promary reasons one gets TSS. You can get these at most health food stores.

IUD's, pamela? they're associated with infection, but not tss. tss occurs with foreign bodies in the vagina that collect/absorb fluids, allowing bacteria to grow. IUDs don't cause that problem. i believe that only paragaurd (copper) and mirena (hormone) are on the market right now, but i could be wrong...
