    Default An amusing incident...

The hotel/condo I am staying in is going through a transition, and they don't know I am a renter instead of a temporary guest.

The past couple of mornings they have been beating on my door and yelling "HOUSEKEEPING!" at 9AM, and then trying to get in when I don't answer.

I'm pretty easygoing but this sort of thing is annoying--I am a night person, I work at night, leave me alone...

So today when she started beating on the door I happened to be up, but not dressed at all, and decided to go open the fucking door. I was undecided as to whether to open it full out, or not as I walked towards it.

Before I could get there, she unlocked the deadbolt (I was so tired and spacey I left the keys in it last night) and got an eyeful. She seemed shocked, said sorry, and left. Good, I thought, leave me alone. To my amazement, she came back a bit later with another housekeeper and started knocking on the door again.

Then the damned woman from the front desk came up and did it, too.

I asked them for a "do not disturb" sign.

wow. how have you not freaked out on them? That would annoy the crap out of me! if you pay rent, you should not have to be bothered like that

reminds me of my 4th of july experience when i was being intimate with my boyfriend and the housekeeper walked in even though we had the "do not disturb" sign up and the door was deadbolted, plus we yelled "GO AWAY".

yep. that lady got an eyeful too.

Well, if I'd been asleep, I would just have ignored it--that's what happened yesterday. Today, I was in a calm mood, so it was easy to laugh about it--what the hell do I care if they see me naked?

I had used this technique (just opening the door naked) on an annoying hotel manager once before-it worked sort, of, but not exactly. She didn't knock as much, but kept teasing me about it--she had the hots for me, but was repulsive, lol. Yuck...

Trust me, though, if what happened to you happened to me, I would have done one of two things--either ripped them a new asshole, verbally, or just gotten into a new position so they could see more, and laughed at them. Probably the former.

That is unspeakably rude, if you are a paying guest.

it's even more rude when you pay rent. You shouldn't have to deal with them waking you up, and especially shouldn't have to deal with them letting themselves into your room.

hopefully they won't wake you up again tomorrow!!

and as for the 4th of july incident, my boyfriend was furious, but that whole weekend was crazy. i'll have to find the link, b/c i'm sure i wrote a thread about that weekend. and it's just so freakin unbelievable.

Well, technically I'm not allowed to rent the room for more than a few nights, so I could be in trouble. Fortunately, I am a lot more personable than some of my posts here might lead you to believe--people tend to like me a lot in real life, so it should be alright.

Find the thread and post the link here! I love crazy stories...

Thats one thing I hate about hotels. Whenever I stay in a hotel, I go to the front desk and tell them to make a note that I don't want any housekeeping. I will go to the front desk to get more towels and cups, etc, when I run out, but I don't want housekeeping, and it always takes them a couple days to figure it out. They will still come to your door and 9 in the morning and wake you up. When I'm in a hotel, I don't want anyone else in my room. I keep it relatively neat, and if I'm only there for a week or so, I don't need any housekeeping.

It's kind of strange, but back in the olden days almost every motel/hotel I ever remember staying in from the Mom and Pop fleabags to the Holiday Inns had a doorknob placard with DO NOT DISTURB on one side to tell housekeeping to stay out, and MAID on the other to tell them to come in.

It was a cheap relatively simple device that worked well. I wonder why I hardly see them anymore.

I remember flipping the "Do Not Disturbs" to "Maid Service Please" with my friends when I was a kid. But that's back when I would use the whoopie cushion on the keyring in the elevator to see people's responses. Grown ups have less excuses to be annoying!

They brought a "Do not disturb" sign for me--let's see how it works...

This hotel is weird, they are a condo, really, but the owners aren't allowed to rent out their rooms--only the front desk can do it.

So I have been warned to be cool by the people I know here. I rarely invite people over, and have been very selective in offering to let people stay here during the events. I could make a lot of money if I wasn't, since the dancers from out of town are paying 200$ a night elsewhere.

I doubt very much I'll be staying after Bike Week, unless I do the Spring Break pool deck thing they are talking to me about. I can't stand having to worry about the 'Condo owners association', and if I stay, it'll be because of the money.

I'm used to a house, where I can play loud music and have people crash on the couch if I feel like it. Condos suck...

I find barricading the door to a hotel room an effective tool. If any staff member gets through that obstacle, and happens to see me naked - I would definitely charge them a moderate fee.

You say you charge a higher naked fee than I do?

Not one, not two, but three times? I have a feeling that they wanted to see you naked. I'm not kidding. Why else would the person from the front desk come up?
