Arm strength. Gotta workout those arms to build the muscles you need to life your entire up.
Eat healthy and get some vitamins. Thats sorta general though it will make you last longer when you are attempting pole tricks.

Ask one of the more friendlier, experienced girls to teach you some one day.... maybe arrive a lil early for work, and definitley pay attention to how each girl gets into the pole tricks... it could be great addition to ur show!!!

I just learned how to properly climb a pole. Until recently, I looked like that skinny kid in gym class struggling with the chin up bar.Arm stregth is very important, but as far as climbing up a pole, it's all about the legs.

Grab the pole with both hands above your head. With bent knees, place one foot in front of the pole and one behind. The top of the foot located behind the pole should be resting, or almost wrapped around the pole. Like your ankle and the top of your toes are hugging it.

Now all you have to do is use your thigh and butt muscles to scoot yourself up until your hands come to your chest. Slide hands above head, rinse and repeat 'til you get to the top. I think I just made this sound super complicated, but it really isn't.

I learned by showing up to the club before opening and planging around on the pole. Later, I discovered a local dance studio that offered a "pole-ates" class.

To learn to climb the pole, it is more important to use your legs, and it can help to wear knee-high boots when you first start because they can help you grip the pole better. Then once you learn how to wrap your legs around the pole and pull yourself up, you can switch back to shoes. This was very helpful to me.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

When I first started to pole dance I sucked, but the key to getting better and more comfortable on the pole is practice. The bruises will go away with time. Just set personal goals for yourself increasing in difficulty over time. Pole dancing is so unnatural for me that I still struggle to learn more advanced moves with minimal injury. It's definitely a work-in-progress, but you have to be committed to safety and learning not only what's best for your body, but the proper techniques used in executing the various pole tricks. Good Luck!
