Default My face is bumpy and rough...

Recently I've noticed my face seems to have little bumps on it and seems sort of rough. The roughness could be dry skin from the cold weather but I'm not sure about these little bumps. They don't seem to be pimples and they don't show that much but I can feel them. I rarely wear foundation and have had the same makeup for a while. Last night I did an Oil of Olay microdermabrasion or whatever they call it and it didn't help. I still feel bumpy. I notice it most on my cheeks. This is so weird and I've never had it before. Anyone had anything like it? Maybe I could go to a dermatologist and get a real microdermabrasian to get rid of it? I don't want to spend a lot of money on a doctor (I have crappy insurance) if I don't have to and it's not that bad but it's just bugging me.

    sounds like allergy to me...

contact dermatitis even... when you suddenly acquire an allergy to something you've used before.

it happened to me any time i used anything new on my face a couple of times.

my mother always used to say... 'leave it alone. stop putting anything on it. let it recover'.

i wouldn't be in a hurry to abrade the surface while it's upset so micro is out

Yes, it sounds like dermatitis to me too. Babies usually have these little bumps on their checks when they are born you are describing. Maybe a fabric softener or laundry detergent? Or perhaps something different you ate lately? Make sure to use Dove unscented soap for sensitive skin. I have very sensitive skin and I use it. I occassionally use tree tea oil shampoo on my hair for dryness and sores I get in the winter months. I also rub some on my face sometimes and I feel like it soothes it.

I get this EVERY SINGLE FUCKING time I try to wear foundation.

It's not really noticeable, but you can feel them when you run your hands over the skin. The only thing you can do is wash your face...moisturize your face with a very light moisturizer and don't put any make-up on it (unless you absolutely need to).

Don't do the micro again. That'll irritate it and make it worse.

You also may want to "spot" check the make-up you are using. I used to be able to wear foundation and now (well, since I hit 30) I cannot wear foundation without my skin feeling extremely itchy...so, what you could wear last year could change. It's normal as your hormonal levels bounce around a bit...so keep a close eye on what you put on your face and your skins reaction to it.

Aside from that...keep an eye on what you eat, as well.

Yep sounds like an allergy. I've had that before. One time it was bad but it was stress related. Stress can do crazy things to you sometimes. But I've also gotten hives from stress a couple times. Drink lots of water, keep your skin clean and don't mess with it. It should go away.

Keratosis Pilaris. A super minor genetic skin disease, not a big deal at all. I have it, diagnosed at the dermatologist. It comes and goes, and just feels like sort of rough bumpy patches. Use a good moisturizer 2-3 times a day. Nothing else you can do. The dermatologist gave me some samples of some prescription moisturizer, which seems to help. I've had these patches come and go occasionally for years. The good thing is, it seems to go away on its own as easily as it appears.

well at least i'm not the only one who's had it. It's just so weird. And I don't have the same thing all over my body so I don't think it could be my sheets but I thought of that. Unless your face is more sensative? I rarely wear foundation but if I do it shows it up where you can see it and normally you can't hardly tell but by feel which just drives me nuts. I'll keep putting moisturizer on I guess and stay away from the dermabrasion stuff for a while. I don't think it can be makeup unless it's the shimmer brick I dust all over my face sometimes but I don't use it all the time. That's the only thing that goes all over and I have the bumps everywhere, just mostly on my cheeks. Maybe it is that stuff but I've used it for a while so weird it would just start.

I used ot have that, I think, when I went to get a facial, the girl said that because I was using soap to clean my face, my skin was getting too dry and to protect it my skin was getting more thick and that those bumps were sebum trying to get out of my skin but since my skin was getting thicker they would get stuck in between layers of skin. I now clean my face with oil or cleansing lotion and make sure to moisturize alot, my skin looks and feel way better now. Maybe it's the same hting for you .

oh hell no! No, I don't think I am. pretty sure of it.

But damn I feel like a scaly lizard on my face! I just took a shower and used Oil of Olay with Shea butter soap (which I've used for a while) and you'd think it would moisturize my face but it feels scalier. Maybe I should try Dove instead. And when I looked at that link for whatever that condition is called I realized I have always gotten these little bumps on the top outside of my arms but I thought that was normal. Never really thought about it. I guess I figured it was my sleeves rubbing or something. I have very sensative skin but this face thing is ridiculous. I've never had such a rough bumpy face. Yuck.

Nothing will make it go away instantly. Mine always goes away in a few days or up to 2 weeks. Good moisturizer will help, but doc said nothing will ever totally stop/prevent it. Also drink plenty of water.

Try Cetaphil or Purpose cleanser on your face. They are both very gentle and good for sensitive skin. Won't get off heavy make-up, though, so try wiping your face with witch hazel after washing.

Apparently the weather has something to do it because a girl at my gym has been having the same problem. I've been moisturing and trying not to wash with soap (which is hard not to since it's such a habit) and it seems a bit better.
