Some of you are probably familiar with Dixie Evans and the Exotic World Burlesque Museum; it's a treasure trove of burlesque/striptease history and they have a burlesque pageant every year. I hope that Jo Weldon will pipe up on this thread because she probably knows a lot more about them than I do. Anyway, years ago I wrote an actual letter (hey, it was like 1995 and I had no interweb then) to them seeking more information and have been infatuated with the idea since.
Well, they are kicking off a fundraising drive, and while I don't know if it's appropriate to post here or not, I think this is a really worthy cause -- how often is it that someone wants to treat the history of what we do so very, very well? People like Dixie Evans and the Exotic World People and Jo are the ones who are preserving what's been a really marginalized form of art and popular culture. I hope you guys check out their website and consider donating. For sure some of you should consider entering the Miss Exotic World Pageant! Paris Love, I am looking in your direction.
