Default What Is Your Look..I Don't Understand Dancing..

OK! I have been dancing for 3 and a half monthes now..
My look is (as some girls say.i donno) the "classic stripper look"
    22inch platinum blonde hair
    dark dark tan
    lots of liquid eyeliner
    bright pink lips..
    The Barbie Look
Going into dancing I thought I would get a lot more attention and more money
This Saturday there were about 40-50 girls working I noticed The girls with the girl next door look and girls that don't look like strippers make the most money
    I really don't understand this??

That is why there are menu's in restaurants.

Barbie has a bad rap in stripclubs... as in greedy fake hustler who laughs at you in the backroom.

P.S. The slop they show you in women's magazines is no were near what guys think is beautiful. That is what gay men think women should look like.

Who would seem more approachable, Pamela Anderson or Sandra Bullock? Maybe the guys are intimidated by your looks, which seems silly in a club but hey, men are weird. Besides you'll make a hell of a lot more money off your personality anyway. Looks alone don't mean jack. I hope it gets better for you.

Exotic 0690 I do understand. But certain looks do better in certain areas. You with the beautiful Barbie dancer look would do very well here in Texas. As someone of mixed ethnicity I just do better on the east coast as people are more accepting of it there. When I was in New Orleans people just assumed I was a local French/ Spanish/creole. I did well there till Katrina . You might also try a different club as I also find that class can affect what type of customer you will attract. I have to work at an upper class club for this reason.

Barbie is a generic look. It is overused in SCs. Then again, if all the girls at your club look like the girl-next-door, don't go for that look either because you won't stand out.

Why don't you really survey the girls working at your club, and see if you can do something with your look that's different and will make you stand out more? Maybe you could try the classic 50s pin-up look? You might even want to wear gowns and add a classier edge to yourself? Just experiment and work on your approach (see Hustle Hut). You'll get there!

It never stopped me from making more money than the other girls. Maybe you are not such a good hustler because you think that with your look you don't have to work and that guy's should just ask you, but the truth is personality is far more important than looks in the clubs and also in all aspect of your life.

Not very good at giving lapdances

I wouldn't survey the other girls - I would survey the guys. They are the ones you are selling to AND they aren't your competition.

There are web sites like this: where people vote the sexiest babe. Take a gander at the looks being put forth - unfortunately they are usually their own - can you imagine Pamela Anderson ( ) )trying to look like Kate Beckindale in Evolution ( )?

Well, she tried in Barbed Wire and that didn't work out so well.

P.S. I am more of a gothy dangerous girl type guy. Classier than a biker babe, rougher than glamour girl.

it has nothing to do with your "look"... yeah it somewhat helps to be a barbie looking dancer as i am myself... but.... i keep it natural and don't go overboard with being fake... not to say you're fake..... guys can see through fakeness anyways... i always make sooo much more money than the totally fake looking girls who are trying to hard to achieve the stripper look bc they think they're going to make bank... if you're friendly and polite to customers and treat them with respect than thats all that should matter and they'll see through your looks....

Your approach helps. Basically I'm a black Barbie, very beach girl. My approach however is wide eyed optimist. Most guys are not intimidated because I'll either be fascinated by their world or a like minded enthusiast depending on their fantasy. Most guys have a soft spot for the girl with a heart of gold or a chick hip enough to hang with him. Soften your makeup color choices (use blues or browns instead of black). Soften the persona you choose to seduce them.

exotic0690: You wouldn't be posting this if you had even bothered to give Hustle Hut a really damn good read. You would have your question answered numerous times in that section.

So.. please.. for your own sanity and success.. get your "stereotypical stripper ass" over to Hustle Hut.

Your look will do well for private parties I know that much esp. here on the Gold Coast. A strip club is a totally different environment.

For my preference I think that the "girl next door" look has always flown well anywhere for one single reason...you can and will approach a girl next door. The utra airbrushed heavily primped and platinum look is WONDERFUL to look at and drool over but there (for me anyway) is never that little fantasy that men whom have seen far fewer sunrises than myself have for the chance that she might LIKE YOU! YES GUYS ACTUALLY THINK STRIPPERS WILL LIKE THEM when young and naive. It's hard to understand that flirt=$ when you are young dumb and full of _ _ _ !!! I think what I mean even at my aged state is that the airbrushed playboy look is for decoration...you expect it in any club and though tip and pay attention to it's easy to look past to that green eyed red head or the ethnic girls. Also of the multitude of dances that I may or may not have experienced I have always only been happily hustled by someone with a unique look. And yours may be quite unique...not to suggest otherwise!

    Just from what I've noticed:
The classic strippery strippers at my club tend to do well with groups. Bachelor parties tend to be focussed on fulfilling a particular "stereotypical stripper" fantasy, so the more Barbie-like, the better. Guys who are there to show off with their friends want a dancer as a status symbol; again, the more she looks like a Playmate, the better.

Guys who come in alone are often looking for some kind of connection (real or perceived) and so they want a girl with whom they can (sorta) realistically imagine themselves with. Hence the popularity of the girl-next-door look.

Play up your centerfold look and persona when you approach groups. When you approach guys alone, be more down-to-earth and approachable to offset a look that may be intimidating. Be goofy, tell dirty jokes, anything to get them to see you as a real person.

....and there you have it... the reason why the blondes with tits (stereotypical stripper) make more money private party dancing than I ever will .... so it seems. /end rant

Have you thought about doing private parties as well as club work ? Your look would bank with the private parties.

    I'm the 'classy stripper'.

I have long black hair, wear nothing that DOESN'T have garter belts and stockings with it... and play Big Bag Voodoo Daddy and Van Morrison.

I'm also the 'smart stripper' because I talk PHP and CAD designs to tech guys. They love geeky girls.

Forgot to add... I make a lot of money because I'm 'different' and 'not like most strippers'.

    Being unique makes you money.

But then everyone loves a Barbie fantasy now and then.

    A flavor for every taste.

Lena has an excellent point! The days/nights that you focus less on looks, and more on customers and selling you may do ALOT better!!!! I see more dark hair beauties dancing now! About time too

I was a blonde, tall and proud stripping....But i had attitude. I could not count on looks alone many times. I had to act like i knew everyone and owned the floor!!!! Get sexy hot wanting attitude! Put it to work.

    Good luck,

    Pamela

You might try giving yourself a makeunder. Maybe make your hair a more natural blonde shade with some nice highlights, maybe trim a few inches off, and use makeup colors that go with your tan skin vs. against them (the pink lipstick for example). That way you will still appeal to the guys that want the Barbie fantasy, but you will look more updated. Personally, I think that the super bleached hair and all of that stereotypical stripper stuff is kind of 80's.

i am always jealous of the barbie looking strippers. i myself am more girl next door, so i've been told. i try to make my makeup dark and look as strippery as possible, because no matter what guys tell me i look young and like the girl next door. i have dark hair (with blonde and read highlights) and blue eyes. i think it's my freckles that gives me the innocent look.
i do ok, but every guy does have his preference. you just have to find the kind of guys that prefer your type.
that is something i am working on right now too.

Why do girl next door types often outearn Barbies in some clubs? Its what I like to call the "underdog theory".

Guys who come to a club by themselves looking for female attention have already conceded they didn't get the good end of either genetics or socialization with women, so they perceive themselves as an underdog.

Now you think a person like this with lots of available cash would perhaps go after the hottest dancer in the club (and some might, there are always exceptions). So why do these guys always seem to team up with the kind of gal he can meet in any supermarket delicatessen? Well, its because lonely guys for the most part don't go to strip clubs for visual stimulation. If he wanted to get off on seeing super hot women, there are tons of magazines, videos, websites etc. that can cater to that sort of thing for a hell of a lot cheaper than any dancer would be willing to provide it for.

So why come to strip clubs at all? Well, the lonely guys are looking for something that a magazine or video can't provide. Interaction, regardless of whether or not it involves any physical touching, (but if it does, so much the better). Sure, any dancer can give that, but I think that less attractive dancers in a club sometimes feel that since they are at a disadvantage in appearance, hence conceding that they are underdogs themselves, feel that they have to compensate in the personality (and perhaps mileage) departements in order to equalize things with the Barbies.

The Barbies on the other hand, feeling that their appearances give them an advantage, tend to rest on their laurels, or approach with that same scripted porn-actress like personality that comes across to lonely guys as phony and condesending. The one that hey've seen it a thousand times at home on their TV or computer monitor. They might not neccesarily mind it, but they didn't pay a door cover and a round of overpriced drinks for that sort of thing.

Mind you, a lot of this is merely perceptional, and not a statement of how any of these people may actually behave. Its not as though the Barbie dancer is trying to be condescending. Its not as though the lonely guy is trying to snub her. Its not as though the girl next door knows that her more relaxed appearance and down home approach actually works to her advantage. It just sort of works out that way. The more downscale the club, the more this is true.

The best advice that I can give a Barbie is to work in an upscale club where appearances are going to count more. Of course, even in that environment, some of the above still applies. When you're one of 50 Barbies, you still need something to distinguish yourself.

Perhaps your not very confidant in your current look? When I work, I usually do a variety of looks, but I find that I make the biggest $$$$ is when I feel the most confidant in the way I look. I notice that guys will usually go to a stage where the girl looks like she is having the most fun. I think the girls who are less attractive make more money because they are, foir whatever reason, more sure of themselves.
