Sad OMG! I'm flusterf*cked! I lost my wedding ring!

Oh geez. I have no idea how to tell my husband. I feel like I am having a bad dream or something. After almost 6 years of a beautiful marriage I have "lost" my wedding ring.

Well, I know where I left it...at the tanning salon. I don't know how I got so distracted and didn't put it back on when I finished my session. Well this was yesterday and for whatever dopey reason I just realized I didn't have it this morning. So I went to the salon and spoke to the girls working the counter and the manager and they said it had not been turned in as of yet. I guess a staff member or another customer got it. I don't understand how someone could be so thoughtless to keep a wedding ring and not turn it in. You can't put a dollar value on something as sentimental as a wedding ring. I am so hurt and pissed at the world and myself right now.

I have no idea how to tell my husband. I am just so devasted and hurt right now. Ok, so after we get over this agony then what? Do I ask for another ring? Not for the bling but for the symbolic nature of it? Or do I just go the rest of my life without?

    How to deal!???

Deanna and I are on our second wedding ring set...The first one we had to cut off her finger while she was preggo, so I said fuck it let's get a new set.
I would be entiirely honest with your husband, he might be pissed at first(and yell and scream and rant and rave, so be prepared) but he married you not a piece of jewelry, so once the intitial shock wears off things should be ok..just make darn sure to NEVER lose the second one

I had a friend who's kid took it. She was two at the time so you couldn't be mad at her, but still. Then another time, the same friend had the diamond fall out of the setting. I think by this time though, they'd gotten insurance on it. Check to see if any of your insurance covers it. Post rewards at the shop?

Good Advise. Losing it is one thing. Concealing it is quite another..

Ya gotta tell him. At least it was at the tanning place and not the strip club.

How could anyone take it and not return it? If you were working minimum wage for a bunch of "rich bitches" would you feel bad about it? A wedding ring can get you a hundred bucks or so.

Wel as its already been said yes you need to tell him. He shouldn't be mad, it was an accident after all. Hell I lost my wedding ring before my wedding and we had to go get a new one to fit with my engagement ring ( they were a set). Hubby wasnt mad, just amused cause we think the cats batted it into a trash can..lol. But I was sick with worry about it I know how you feel. Tell him and you will feel a lot better. I hope you can find it though.

Lola, Would he really be mad about this?

I mean your obvious hurt about losing it shows you werent being intentional or some flaw in the relationship, and this would be relayed when you talk to him about it, and I am sure you both will come up with something.

Don't fret! You've been through worse.

It could have been worse... it could have been an heirloom or something.

(a friend of mine had an heirloom ring and her son flushed it down the toilet when he was 18 mos.)

    i did that!

about 3 weeks after i got engaged i put my precious diamond treasure on the table, went into the spray booth and waltzed out without it.

luckily i had known the owners for years so he chased me through 2 car parks with it.

it was so new to me that i didn't notice 17 grams missing off my finger. duh. i didn't bother to tell SO because he'd spak that i was careless (even though i got it back).

i understand your terror right now. hmm... all you can do is tell the truth and bear the consequences. lying or trying to get another would just do damage. at least you will never do it again, huh?

    good luck

I don't think he will be mad...just sick. It's a nice $10G diamond engagement/wedding band. I had them fused together. It took us about 2 years to pay it off.

And I do consider it an heirloom. That ring is the one that was placed on my finger as we gave our vows to one another, so I could never replace it.
I know it's cheezy but I would look at my ring and think of how special my wedding day was to both of us. :::SIGH::: So, yeah, I guess I can get another ring but all it would be is an "announcement" to the world that I'm married. I'm not sure how emotionally attached I will be to it though.

Well, the manager of the tanning salon is offering a small reward and so am I but who knows. I am sure if a staff member got it that they would be nervous about getting fired even if they did have a guilty concious and wanted to return it. I am going to check the local pawn shops and Ebay. I think you can do a search by sellers in a specific region so that may help.

Definatly tell the pawn shop owners that you're missing a ring..also can you file a police report? It is a theft. Do you have homeowners/renters insurance? I know ours covers our rings. Also don't forget craigslist!! Keep an eye on that! And the newspapers in your area.

Good luck, I know I would be feeling the same way as you..it's a symbol of your love..not so much the cost, but the sentiment behind it.

O know we have renter's insurance and have pics of the rings in the safety deposit box so hopefully it will be covered.

I didn't think of it as a theft. My husband is a cop so I can ask about a police report. I know if there is a theft report filed that pawn shops are notified by the police dept. Good advice, thanks.

    Any luck so far?!

Sheesh, well, hopefully you get everything squared away soon! If not, don't focus so much on the fact that you lost the one, you'll never forget that, just try making the next one special...but I still hope you find the old one regardless.

OK. You need to GET GOING on this right away. More time means a lot more chances for the thief to fence it.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Most salons keep a log book with who went in what bed at what time. Would the manager be willing to tell you the names of the people that went in after you? Maybe you could look them up in the phone book and call them? If you did that and offered a small reward they may be willing to admit that they took it with the intention of turning it in but "forgot about having the ring until you called them".

^^ that is a good idea. my joint keeps a log of everyone - most people have memberships and come in regularly. the person at the desk would have to have cleaned the booth/room for the next person. maybe it was them?????

i have a feeling you'll get it back.

Ok, today I asked the manager about doing this and she said she thinks a report can be done but has to find out how to do it. So, she said she would get back to me tomorrow (Tues.) on that.

I told my husband what happened and we called the insurance company. We can only get $1000 coverage for loss/theft of jewelry (we'll be changing this part of our policy!). So, I am going to post a reward sign of $1000 for the return of my ring --- no questions asked.

If it never comes back to me, I guess I will put the $1000 towards a new ring and told my husband I am going to work one extra day a week and all of that money will go towards a new ring. Again, like I mentioned previously, I am sure I will love a new ring but hesitant that it will not have quite the same meaning.

    So we shall see.

I am just really disappointed in society in general right now. I have always been a very compassionate, giving, caring person by nature and ALWAYS have given people the benefit of the doubt. But now, I feel like being a hater.

    Lola,

So sorry this happened to you. I lost mine at work last year. Hubby was not mad at all, seeing how he had already lost his down the toll basket!

I hope you get the ring back someday. Starnger things have happened.

    Much love!
