This is so good I went to the booth when my friend, The Topless Dancing DJ, Jubilee played it and demanded to know who did the remix--I should have known, lol.

    It blows away the original.

Thanks for the new suggestions, I've lost touch with my favorite genre in the last year, so I appreciate it.

    Hybrid is the shit...

I have always loved their music, as much as any style of techno, though much of it is borderline too mellow for stripclub use. There are several faster-paced songs which are perfect, though--so long as the dancer and the crowd are into techno.

It has a rolling, sensuous power that is unique and irresistable.

Here is a link to their excellent CD "Remix and Additional Production By..." (I know, weird name, but it rocks):

    http://cd.ciao.co.uk/Remix_And_Addit...ybrid__5839782

This has the supurb remix of Filter's "Take a Picture", as well as some pretty upbeat stuff and some purely blissful sensuous tracks.

They have a whole lot of other stuff out there, much of which I have DLed and burned, but without copying the names of the mixes. I'll be looking into this, and will probably create a new thread just for them when I find out more, since they deserve it.

I like Hybrid too, however I haven't tried any at work because most of the stuff with the exception of "Take A Picture" takes a long time to get going. I tend to choose techno that doesn't have to be cued too far lest I appear high maintenence to the DJ.

Here is some stuff that's been working for me:
"Talk" by Coldplay (Thin White Duke remix)
"whenever?" something like that anyway- by Royksopp (Thin White Duke remix)
Pretty much a lot of TWD remixes
    "The Weekend" - Eric Prydz

Check out Timo Maas' Music for the Maases remix CD
there's some bad shit that on there.

I could go on and on but its late. Time to count the money and go to bed. Enjoy.

Yeah, there's a lot of techno that needs to be carefully cued--I have songs I start as much as five minutes into them! And several songs that are actually the last half of one track and the first half of the next--the way the mixing is done it works.

Also if you have a kick-ass 7-8 minute song, I'll try to play the best 3 1/2 to 4 minutes of it (where I work now they cut the songs at 2 1/2 or even 2 minutes--this makes it tough to decide where to cue sometimes!).

But a DJ that didn't like techno would probably look at you like you were crazy if you told him that--ah well...

I have a Sasha and Digweed live album that I used to make this one DJ cue to like 35 minutes or something. It worked, and I tipped him well for it, but if he screwed up, (and lets face it: shit happens), it was hell to dance to.
I keep my stuff really organized now, and I'm probably annoying because I never let him pick my music unless I'm in a weird mood.

Have you ever heard of Dave Ralph? Tranceport II is an awesome CD. It's older but there are a couple of tracks I still consider to be my secret weapons. I always make a lot of money when I dance to them and the crowd, even the older guys seem to dig it.

Ha! I love it--I have both those CDs...

Yeah, that one part is great, I thought it was 17 minutes in, but my memory could have failed me. The whole CD is one big track.

Does a woman sing "These things happen" just as the good part kicks in?

Well I have 3. The first one is Live from Sydney- it has a great intro.. then later on it gets better- real tribal though.

Second is an unknown live show, pretty good but it stays at home.

The third one is Live from Simmons and its my all time favorite. I have been desperately searching for the playlist from that one because like i said before the tracks that work in the club are buried in the middle.
Now I have a link to Digweed's set lists, and sometimes you will have luck finding the individual tracks which makes it easier for work but I have yet to find the list from Simmons anywhere. It's my personal unicorn.
Also there's a lot of other great DJ's on the site and I like to dig through their tracks because they usually have the best remixes that I've never heard of.
check out Murch and King Unique for some dirty house.

That is a great site--thanks for the link! I have a lot of downloaded mix CDs that I have no clue what the various tracks are called, who exactly does them, etc.--this should be a big help.

It would be better than calling them "17 minutes into burned CD #6", lol...

You're welcome. It's good to know there's a DJ that plays something other than Lords of Acid when you ask for techno.

Maybe we should start a thread on the most played out techno songs....

My least fave which I can count on hearing on Fri/Sat. is the "I wanna suck on your lollipop" song by LOA.

A few that the dancing girlies ask me for recently:

    "Push It" : De Lorean
"Waiting For You" : Narcotic Thrust
"Faster Kill Pussycat" : Paul Oakenfold
    "Alone" : Kym Sozzi
"Ooh La La"(Benny Benassi Mix) : Goldfrapp

And honestly most of the stuff I get asked for is generally at least 6 months old.

I have been out of touch with the latest developments in this, my favorite genre (except maybe industrial) for the last couple of years, so I am embarassed to say that most of the techno I play is even older than 6 months, lol.

One reason I decided to spend more time here.

Hmm ... I think it doesn't really matter if the techno is 6 months old. Especially since many of the customers, at least where I work, don't generally read up on the dance charts or listen to techno religiously. I have yet to have any complaints on that, although I consider myself a bit of a music snob and find myself rolling my eyes (at least inwardly) when I hear the same old song yet again. I have seriously considered bribing the DJ to play music I like for other dancers who don't pick their music and just say "play techno." Maybe this is borderline behavior. I did that years ago at another club that I worked at, but I think it may be a little out of line so I haven't acted upon this desire yet at my current club.

One of my friends is a fantastic techno DJ, but plays all this crappy Top 40 stuff at his club--when I worked there briefly he was always on me about playing it, but I couldn't handle it--one reason I left that place.

He also immediately said "That's old!", when I told him about one of my favorite techno songs "Fever Express" by Fever, like there was something wrong with it. I have yet to hear any other SCDJ play it, including him--despite the fact that it has to be one of the best techno songs for stripping I have ever heard (plus the name--and the lyrics--lends itself to all manner of 'talking up' the dancer you play it for.

Music is music, it's good or bad no matter when it came out.

But there is a lot of stuff out there I need to get that's been released in the last two years, so keep on with the great suggestions!

I meant no slight at all when I mentioned I play slightly "older" stuff. It just seems that techno/house/trance/whatever and hiphop are the two genres where a song is dead really quickly. I agree that most of the songs I would consider "played out" or that I am thoroughly sick of....they don't even break the charts til far after I am done with them sometimes. That's why having a turnover of girls is sometimes important.....they have no idea you've played it do death.

    Oh, none taken...

You weren't talking about us here, anyway, lol.

But it is an interesting subject--what's funny is how you discover a song that's new to you, and no one else in your area has played or heard of, mention it to someone, and they'll say "God, I'm so sick of that!" Probably because they've already played it or heard it or danced to it in their club.

But I have been out of touch, as I say--except in the local clubs, where imagination isn't so highly prized--and the last year, even if I've been busting my ass, I don't feel like looking around for new stuff when I'm off. It's too much like work, doesn't that suck?

This has been especially true in the last six months, I'm only now starting to feel normal in the last few weeks, and I still look like shit, relatively speaking...
