    Default I'm quitting

My last day as a dancer, for the time being at least, will be March 31st. Its just causing to many problems in my personal life. I am going to stay through race week and make several grand (hopefully) and then go back to lifeguarding full time. Sigh.

I hear you, it's tough. I tried quitting before but you start missing that money. I wish the best for you, and hope your day job will be enough.

I am also curious as to why you wish to quit. Didn't you just start?

girl, best of luck to you . if you'll be happier being a lifeguard, then that's a very important thing to know and work with. you could always try dancing again if you want to (as you said you are done "for the time being")...or not...either way, do what's best for you, and have no regrets about it.

I'm quite happy as a dancer and I'm thrilled by the money, but the people in my life that I care most about are having a hard time dealing with it. They mean more. I figure I wont quit completly, I'll more of less be doing secret stripper trips every now and then and working raceweek. Lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons/ coaching the Y team will be enough money if I do it full time.....SIGH

It doesn't seem like you'll be real happy in the end...are you sure?

^^^ I agree. If you think that quitting is the best thing to do for yourself, then fine. But you shouldn't quit just to please the people around you if it's going to leave you unhappy in the end. Sometimes you just have to say, "I'm an adult and I am going to make my own decisions and do what is best for me and makes me happy." I had this same problem when I first started dancing. My boyfriend was very upset about it, and my mom also wasn't very happy. But I decided that I had to keep dancing because I needed the money, and because I really like the job. My boyfriend is really great about it now (it just took him some time to get used to the idea of what I do) and while my mom still isn't happy about it, she is much more accepting of it.

So I guess just do what you have to do (I'm not at all trying to talk you out of quitting) just make sure you're decision makes you happy and is what you really want.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

Well, I'm glad that it's not the job itself that's giving you grief (remember the thread of your old shit hole club getting busted?), although outside sources can be harder on you. Good luck, and don't let the bastards get you down.

I remember I used to be engaged with a woman that wanted to do this.. we talked abou tit, as it was always something she wanted to do... had a perfect body, and a very spunky attitude.. I even went with her to the club to check it otu with her and talk to the managers, to support her.

It wasn't even about the money, as I made enough, it's just something she always used to half ass joke about, and one day I told her seriously, if she wants to do it, do it

so she starts, works for like 2 weeks and is an absolute natural.. I hadn't seen her that happy in a long time.. she used to come home and tell me storys and used to get into it, the clothing, learning new moves, she was even a member of this forum.. that's how I first found it.. I was happy that she was happy.

She was brining home about 500-700 a night easy, her first night wich was a saturday she made about 900 dollars after tip out.

Then her mom and older sisters (one of which used to be a stripper though college) put a guilt trip on her and made her quit. It pissed me off becuase her family is always controling what she does, and she is now 26, she can't / won't do anything without their approval, and they can bully her into doing/not doing anything.. part of the reason we aren't togther anymore

That's funny because my brother too got busted for selling weed but she surely isn't talking better about him than about me. Not that she is talking trash about me but she is always afraid that I will do it again if things are bad (wich I did without telling her hahaha). I understand that parents don't want to see their children like that, but give me a break.
