I had my Root Canal yesterday. I went in expecting the worst, even though my dentist promised me that it would be PAIN-LESS (not less-painful, but pain-less). I'm a big baby when it comes to dental work anyway, despite the fact that I've had tons done in the past. This was my first Root Canal though. This dentist is excellent!
He numbed me up like crazy! I felt absolutely nothing. The only thing that bothered me during the Root Canal was the noise from the drill, and the smell of the latex gloves. Ugh. That smell doesn't go too well with pregnancy, let me tell ya. After seeing that I had a problem with the drill, he put some headphones on me, and all was good.
Other thing that bothered me was the length of time sitting in that chair. Ugh. I went in for my appointment at 1:30. I was done around 5:00!
He found a cavity on the tooth directly in back of the root canal tooth, so he fixed that right up beforehand, and gave me one of those snazzy white fillings instead of the old silvery metal ones. I go in Wednesday for the permanent crown, and to fix up some other cavities.
He's going to squeeze in all the dental work I need done before April 15th. Unfortunately, he's dropping my version of the Insurance he accepts, because he makes only 55% of what he charges by accepting it. With my Insurance now, everything is covered and I don't pay a cent. So, he's going to get all the work done before then so I won't have to pay anything out of pocket. After that though, if I decide to keep him (which I am.. He's the only dentist I've ever liked), I'll have to pay like 30% for anything I have done.
I was numb the rest of the day, which made trying to eat my favorite soup and drinking soda from a can rather interesting. Ha. I ended up getting a headache and went to bed at 8:00! Got a GREAT night's sleep for the first time in ages though.
Before the dentist, I got my "fun" appointment out of the way. Everything is doing great with the baby! I got to hear the heartbeat! Very strong little heart, and it's beating at about 150-155. It's always so great hearing it for the first time! I asked when my next ultrasound would be, and he told me that it will be scheduled for when I'm 20 weeks. That's about 7 more weeks. Good thing about waiting though is that by then they'll be able to tell me for sure what the gender is (provided he or she isn't sitting on it like my second baby was). Dan and Delia will be able to come with me for that one so that they can see too. He also told me that he can't schedule the C-Section earlier than 7 days before my actual due date (Medical laws prevent him from scheduling it sooner). So even though it'll be scheduled for the end of August, my history proves that baby will be coming a week or two earlier than that. It just can't be officially scheduled sooner than a week before I'm due, so chances are I'll be heading to the hospital at the first sign of labor. Eep! That makes it a bit difficult for Dan to schedule his family leave, and getting the In-Laws here in time so they can be with Delia while we're at the hospital a bit hard, but we'll manage (I hope!).
Someone asked about the PO Box last night--I'll probably be getting one all set up Wednesday, and I'll post it in the other thread.
