You don't need a license to work in any club. How much can you afford to pay a month? That will determine where you can live.

Paris, dancing in NYC is actually like having three different cities to pick from ...
Manhattan clubs offer the highest earnings potential by far. However, Manhattan clubowners are extremely picky about the dancers they will hire. Manhattan costs of living are outrageous, as are the nightly stage fees charged by some of the upscale clubs.
Queens/Staten Island clubs are not much different from clubs in an 'medium sized city' both in terms of earnings potential and in costs of living.
Bronx/Brooklyn clubs ... well let's not go there.
how expensive is manhattan?

I costs an arm and a leg, and maybe an extra limb or two more depending on the nieghborhood. Be prepared to live with strangers and pay high house fees at the best clubs, or get groped by locals at the lower scale ones.Originally Posted by sincerly_paris

Try sublet.com or rent.com to check out how much everything is. Im currently renting a place from a private owner for about $630 a month, but thats a pretty good deal and its not in the best neighborhood (Jamaica). The most inexpensive apartment in my area is an unfurnished studio for about $900 a month, and 1 bedrooms are over $1000 a month. I don't know too much about manhattan but its probably at least $2000 a month or more.

Another good site to check out where I found my place is craigslist.com
