    Default Designer knockoffs

I had a feeling there might be a thread about this somewhere but couldnt find it. I hope this is the right section since it'll be close to my body.

Ebay has sucked me in. I started shopping for purses and Im addicted already.

I was wondering what you guys think of designer knockoffs?
There are a few views I can expect...thats it wrong and it does the designer wrong. Then again there is no reason a purse should be 2,000 anways.
I figure its ok as long as the designers label isnt on it but looks like the original. Department stores do this all the time at places such as wet seal, charlotte russe, and various accessorie stores.

sheeee-it. I don't even want anything to do with it unless it looks EXACTLY like the original!

Once I found a great Kate Spade knockoff at Lola Luna's. heehee

I agree with that. I think it's fine to copy the style, and perhaps have a similar print too.
But once you get into the very obviously fake bags with the designer's logo/print on it... that's wrong. You know, like, the ones from chinatown that have the LV Monogram Canvas print with the cheap ass straps that one pays $5-20 for. IMO, if one can't afford it, then one can't get it. If the nice designer people wanted everyone to wear their bags, then they would cost $5-20. Do they make knockoff Ferrari's? No... Then again, I have seen knockoff Bentley's...hmm ( greggy trails off into thought) ...

I'm not a fan of knockoffs, but that's just me. I'd rather have the real thing and if not then just have something that is totally different. Be careful on ebay. A lot of "guaranteed authentic" isn't authentic at all.

Agreed. Those "designer inspired" pieces look extremely tacky.

Not only is this nor ''right'' but they look and are extremely cheap. It shows anyway so why not just buy a nice purse that is not a knockoff ? I understand that not everybody can buy the real stuff but you can find alot of nice cheaper purses that wont make you look cheap.

I'm a label whore when it comes to handbags. Prada, Fendi, and Coach are little rewards and luxuries I give myself from time to time. It wouldn't be an indulgence for me if it were a fake.

I don't judge others that buy knockoffs unless they try to convince me it's real. Please don't squeal, "look at my new Louis!" when you bought it out of the trunk of some guys car for $20. It insults the collectors and never fools us.

otb, you must be still in N.O.! I remember seeing a woman with a Chanel bag paying with food stamps in line at Winn Dixie one day. See it all the time in New Orleans. I'm SURE they are all real! Now what is scary is the number of people that used to live on welfare in N.O. and DID have money to blow on expensive stuff. Gotta love drug dealers.

I'm not a label whore, but I like a quality bag...those cheap ones are obviously fake (ugh, I saw a Chanel knockoff, and the "leather" was cracked, the metal on it was already tarnished and green, but the woman grinned like she was fooling everyone).

I love Coach, even thought hey are so trendy now. I get the classic ones, none of that fish or purple stuff...I have a basic black and gray, tan and brown, white, and a plain black leather one. They are such terrific quality, withstand a ton of wear and tear, repel dirt...I'll carry them for ten years and look like class, not cheap, the whole time.

I'm kind of a money saver, purses aren't really my thing anyways, they always end up getting dirty in my truck when I go places anyways. I'm not really into labels, I'd rather save my money than buy some expensive stuff for myself.

i once had a knock off Addidas shirt, or however its spelled, i knew it was a knock off, even though the word was spelled wrong on the shirt, no one noticed unitl I would point it out to the person, and some times they still didn't get it. i thought it was funny to see that nobody noticed.

I don't think I would ever notice a purse as being a knock off or not, but that's just me, but I say if you like saving money, and you like the look of the knock off purse, buy it!!

To the laymen,no one can tell real from fake, but to someone like me that can tell right away,it is tacky.Purses and jewelry are my things of choice to spend on so I notice those items on someone else right away.

I could be wrong but I heard that terrorists sell these bags to support attacks and terrorists groups. I'll look it up.

Exactly. I'm a handbag aficianado (esp. Louis Vuitton bags). I used to quietly point out fake ones to my bf when we were in the mall. I never thought he was paying attention, but then one day on the subway, he whispered to me, "Look, that lady has a fake Louis." hehehe, he's so cute sometimes.

Anyway, sometimes it's worth it to spend $200 or more on a good Coach bag or something. They last forever. Think of how many $20 bags you'll go through in 5-10 years. That's one Coach bag.

If it's something I'd really like I'll go for quality, some of the knock offs are good but I won't buy something just to wear a brand, real or otherwise, I'll have someone get it as a gift if I really want it, customers get me stuff for my B'day and x-mas, I used to get a lot of purfume but I don't ask for that anymore, I 've got more of it than I could probably use. The fake perfumes are really bad, some imitations are ok but don't go the distance, I like the real thing.
A lot of designer stuff is actually made in China, believe it or not, some countries like Australia you only have to finish a product here and you can stick a "made in Australia" tag on it. Quality designer furnature in China is dirt cheap, you can have it shipped and still save money and it's the real thing.

Why bother buying knock-offs when you can go to the outlets and get the real thing at a cheaper price? I just bought a beautiful nautical looking navy blue and off white Coach in Rocky Mount, NC for a little under $200.00.

I am really hard on my purses and this one really holds up to the abuse.

    You deserve the best....never settle.

That's funny because I took the bus and metro alot of time with my real stuff. But I come from a big city where alot of people take public transportation because traffic and no parking. And it's not like i'm super rich and that I paid for these things hahaha. It must look funny anyway though !

I like new stuff. I don't like to carry the same bag or wear the same shoes / outfits for too long. I get bored with the same old stuff. And since I can't afford to buy new fancy label clothes / shoes / accessories every few weeks or months, I get the cheaper stuff. But I don't care to pretend I'm carrying something fancy; I just go with the cheaper brands that look nice but don't cost a fortune. I like Guess bags and by buying on sale I can get a very nice bag that will look great and last until I'm bored with it for $20-30. If I were to tally up my purse spending I probably spend the equivalent of 1 nice Coach bag in 5 years, but there is NO WAY I'd want to spend all that on ONE stinkin bag I have to carry around for 5 friggin years.

And btw girls, class isn't measured in dollars. Again I hate that word "class". People who use it never know what it means.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

I wont buy them, no matter how good they look in comparison to the real thing.
You can't really mimic quality cheaply.

I don't care if you have a fake one, but you aren't fooling me!
