    Default Violence in clubs

Couldn't see a thread for this so started one.

What are some bad experiences you've had at work, what do you think the club could have done (if anything) to prevent it?

I've seen some pretty bad stuff, the last single worst episode was when a group of customers started beating up this guy who was on his own minding his own business, security came over but did they stop it? no they joined in! The manager (all 5ft of her) ran over to try and break it up, lucky they didn't hit her too. The guy was pretty much unconcious and they were still kicking him and stomping on his head, then they took his wallet and phone, great end to the night it was for him, then they picked him up and threw him in an alley out the back. He was unrecognisable he was so badly beaten, a group of us girls called an ambulance and stayed with him till it arrived. God what is wrong with these people! Told the boss about it and these same "security" guys still work there! How many times does he have to go to court before he sees these wannabe security losers are trouble! OK had my spit feel better now

My worst experiences are usualy with bachelor parties. You know...one member of the party bumps into another guy who's by himself...chests come out, the rest of the party jumps on the lone guy.

I witnessed a 60 or 70 man bachelor party brawl that looked like something out of Braveheart. Fortunately it took place on the parking lot.

Professional doormen (not bouncers) and managers are the best way to reduce violence in the clubs. You hire your male staff for their people skills first...and train them to handle violent situations when they inevitably break out. And every member of the male staff should be trained in this manner...DJ, bartenders, doormen, and bathroom attendents. In my area we send our male staff through a course called Pressure Point Control Training (PPCT) taught by our local police department. Although it teaches grappling, fighting and defensive skills...it's mainly a course on how to diffuse potentialy violent situations.

As you've witnessed keira, hiring bouncers or security is a recipe for disaster. Tough guy bouncers with an attitude not only intimidate guests, they attract violence. I'm not saying you cant hire people who know how to scrap, I'm saying it's all about their people skills and disposition. Some of these guys want to get into situations so they can show off in front of the girls or are just adreneline junkies. I know, because I was that way in my early 20s. I'm 35 now and dont wanna fight nobody tougher than my momma.

Entertainers not feeling safe in the clubs because they are witnessing violence is bad for business. Same thing with club guests. Our clubs are there so people can feel comfortable and have a good time. In order to create and maintain that type of atmosphere within a club...you have to start with the hiring and training of staff.

    End rant!

Thanks Romulus. I totally agree with you. I just wish these paricular club owners would listen to what their staff and customers are saying. It's not nice to walk into work wondering what's going to happen next, I've stopped working Fri & Sat, it's just too risky, maybe when they don't have enough girls to cover the busy nights they might wake up, but it's more likely they will try and bully girls into working. Till then I'll be doing the quiet nights, better staff on and more my pace nowdays anyhow, getting old, lol

That's insane. I'd get a new club if I were you.

Anyway, I've only seen girls fight (even though the girls in my club fight like men).

I'm pretty sure our security guards have some form of proffesional training. They're all big beefy guys though. But they get along great with the custys and aren't intimidating in the least. They could careless about hooking up with us and will stop a male fight before it even starts. I have to admit, even though our club is ghetto as hell and attracts all the "thug" types, I have never seen any custys even arguing. A lot of these guys are just there for a good time and are man enough to back down knowing that the other guy is just drunk and acting stupid.

Yes, I've seen it, and dealt with it personally, though I have yet to be injured myself.

My best friend was shot and killed as a result of some shit that happened in our club, but I started a thread about that a while ago, along with some other things that have gone down here--including some hellacious catfights (that was another thread).

You can try to find it if you want ("This can be a dangerous occupation...", started here in SG about 2 months ago), or if you are interested I will find it later and PM you the exact location.

I won't bother to repeat the whole story here, though it's an interesting if terrible tale. For one thing it's all there, and for another, I might hear again how 'most of your posts' seemed to be about how rough the club can be (that would be, say, 1500 of them?).

Needless to say, having your best friend murdered kind of makes it stick in your mind for a while, though.
