    Default Mystic tan questions

I tanned way too much when I was younger. Now I use Sally Hansons Air Brush Legs, but I use it on my whole body and face. I am addicted to this stuff as it is makes my skin COMPLETELY even-toned, and very tan. Bad news is, it is the MESSIEST sheeeeit in the world! I have ruined towels, sheets and leave "paint marks" (my bf calls them) in the bathtub.
Great for the club but lousy for everyday life. So I'm considering doing the Mystic Tan thing. Anyone do this and how do you like it? I like a medium to dark tan, is this achievable? Does it stain clothes? Does it come off in the shower or a pool? How long does it last and how much does each visit cost?

I have done the mystic tan once, and I didn't have a good experience with it. I turned orange, and when it went away, instead of just fading, it peeled off, I looked like I had lepracy! I believe its around 20 bucks per tan. Mine lasted about 5-7 days.

You HAVE to exfoliate really really really well before going in... shave also

theyll show you a video on how to do it. it says to 'wipe' afterwards to remove excess spray. I was taught to blot it off. starting at feet - wrap towel and press... it works WAY better, the tan lasts MUCH longer...

People have different body chemistry. Some turn orange and others get a great golden tan. Only thing you can do is try and see how it works for you...

I used to use it but went back to regular tan beds.

I shaved and exfoilated before going to the mystic tan. Then I watched the video once I got there. I did everything as described then I turned orange, lol. Maybe it just didn't work well with my skin tone.

I felt like it made my fingers too orange. The rest of me was okay I guess. I put lotion all over my hands but they still looked orange.

It depends on your body chemistry as to what tint you'll be. What they don't tell you is to go and wash your hands immediatly afterwards. I do the Mystic when I am in a rush or have fallen behind on tanning. Something that helps me is after the Mystic I go home and put on the Loreal Bronzer. I have learned if I dont shower until the day after a Mystic, I am darker and it lasts longer.

    -shave
    -exfoliate
-after the Mystic was hands immediatly or put on a LOT of barrier cream before the Mystic
-use loreal brozer to even things out, it looked like I had a few water spots later in the day.
    - day 2 use lots of lotion

Mine normally lasts about a week. DO NOT scrub! Gently rinse yourself using just your hands the first time you shower afterwards.

I know my way may sound a little odd but it works for me.

I do the Mystic Tan almost every week, and it's always been good for me. I only get a level 1, though, because my skin is so fair that a level 2 makes me look spotty.

I use one of the gradual tan lotions after I shower to help the color fade more evenly, and it sure beats tanning in a bed (since my risk for skin cancer is quite high).

There are tons of different formulas out there- the "tan" is actually a chemical reaction and they add pigment because it takes time for most people to develop color, so the additional pigment makes it more immediate.

I prefer to use tanning spray that is formualted with melanin and uses caramel color insstead of D and C or FDC dyes because it results in a more bronze and less orange. There are so many different formulas around, and they are not all equal.

I did the mystic tan, and loved it the first day, but when it started fading, it was very uneven, and also, it stained my sheets. ( I sleep naked) I would do it again if I needed to look good for a special reason, and got it done that day, but otherwise, I love the loreal sublime bronze, I use that 2-3 times a week.

this was how it worked for me too. i haven't done it in a long time, but i remember it being like a fake-tan car wash. put the barrier cream on your knees and elbows too, or any areas where your skin is thicker or where the tanning solution could pool. i had to do it every five days to keep the tan looking even, and went to level 2. it was about 25 dollars per session, but you could probably get a good deal if you purchase a package (only do this after you try it out once though, that way you aren't stuck with something that you don't like). overall, i found it easier to deal with than fake tan that comes from a bottle...i could never apply it evenly.

I did the mystic tan and it SUCKED!!! I suggest the Tan Towels or Toni Brattin Tan Mitt. You can find both brands at www.hsn.com. The tan looks natural and I have had nothing bu success with both. I have had melanoma before and cannot tan in the sun or tanning beds so this is great.

Try tan towels. Waaaay cheaper than mystic tan (about $1.00-1.40 each from a seller on ebay callled excellenttan) and from I gather from everyone who posted here there aren't issues like there are with the mystic tan. now I sound like a tan towels sales associate, LOL

I have fallen in love with the Neutragena Spray On Tan. I use level 3 for Deeper Skin Tones. I had been doing Mystic Tan once a week during the summer and it got to be a pretty expensive habit. Plus, I personally don't like the instant bronzer that is in it. It makes me look dirty. I have gotten very good, natural looking results from Neutragena. One can will apply about 3 full body tans and cost about $10 bucks.

I know what you're saying about the paint marks that stuff leaves in the bathtub! Messy messy stuff! Doesn't that get expensive using it for your whole body when they cost $8 a bottle and barely last a week?

I really like mystic tans, and find they can last up to 2 weeks as long as you use a Water-Based moisturizer regularly. But when they wear off me, it looks like SHIT. Speckled, patchy and strange-looking.

I love Sally Hanson airbrush, but unfortunately find that it rubs off - even when completely dried - , on men's clothing!!!
