I recently picked up Killing Joke's "Pandamonium" (sp) from 1994. It's like a techno-rock trance CD..with Scottish humor. Not the run of the mill clubby techno, but worth a listen.

Try for stuff by DJ Rap she has great drum/bass music and I think i've only ever heard one dancer dance to one of her songs.. but its very upbeat and catchy and fun to dance to. I've been known to dance around my apt to it lol.
John B is another good artist very good drum/bass music.

so far, no trance listed above (except BT) but some good tunes. For real trance, look for Paul van Dyk, Armin van Burren, Deepsky, BT, Lost Tribe.

    that's a good start.

I've been really getting into electronic music lately. Perhaps one of the best groups I've ever heard is out of the UK called Shpongle. Their music is actually intended to be listened to while on LSD or Shrooms and many of their songs can reach 10 minutes or longer so they may need to be trimmed down a bit. Based on their music though, that would be rather easy to do as their normal songs really change rythms and beats a lot through the song. A few good suggestions for some songs of theirs would be Dorset Perception, Vapour Rumour, and My Head Feels Like a Frisbee. There are a few tracks they did independently of their albums which I have if anyone is interested also. You can find their stuff at shpongle.com. Great techno/trance music and not common on the shelves.

DW, I first experienced Shpongle around 4 years ago. I was in Amsterdam, and let's just say I wasn't exactly... lucid. "...And The Day Turned To Night" and "Divine Moments Of Truth", on really good headphones....oh maaaaaaaaaaaan. I doubt I would ever play any of it in a SC, seeing as how (as you mentioned) the songs tend to hit the 12+ minute mark quite often.... but it's amazing stuff. Anyone into serious psychedelic trance should check it out. Good call, sir. The only album I have been able to find (for under 25 bucks) was "Are You Shpongled?".

Devine Moments of Truth I think was their truely best piece but would not work in a SC at all. As far as quality of the music, it's probably the most brilliant and complicated electronic music I've ever heard. Two other GREAT tracks you should check into are Shiva Space Technology and Beija For. Simply amazing and mind expanding music.

Another similar group which is also good is Infected Mushroom but they aren't nearly as good as Shpongle.

SHpongle is Simon Posford, an innovator in the Goa/Psychadelic Trance scene, also known as Hallucinogen. Schpongle is classified as Psy/Dub, and is more chill-out type stuff of incredible incatracy. Infected Mushroom is pure Psy trance, so you can't really compare the two. I have many mix CD's that I've done of both Psy chill and full on Psy trance if anyone is interested.

I forgot to mention Ferry Corsten's PUNK and IT'S TIME are great to dance to. DJ Trashy has some great stuff that works well at the club too.
