I just heard about this on ESPN's "Around The Horn" and the link is to the related story in the Salt Lake Tribune.
Masha Lopatova, a former Russian pop star and wife of Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko, revealed in an ESPN The Magazine interview that she allows her husband an "allowance" of one night per year with another woman.
Quote from the story: "What's forbidden is always desirable. And athletes, particularly men, are susceptible to all the things they are offered. It's the same way raising children - If I tell my child 'No pizza, no pizza, no pizza', what does he want more than anything? Pizza.
"So this is the arrangement that Andrei and I have. If I know about it, it's not cheating."
She does note that the arrangement is NOT reciprocal (she doesn't get to sleep with another man once a year). And Kirilenko says he doesn't plan to use his allowance.
I thought this was odd (especially since they live in ultra-conservative Salt Lake City), but on the other hand it makes a lot of sense.
